A Quick Update

I had planned to give you an update before now but my husband's computer isn't always available when I have the opportunity to tap away on this different kind of keyboard. He is helping a friend do some work at his house so I'm grabbing the opportunity to update you. I can type as long as I go v.e.r.y. s.l.o.w

I hope to be able to purchase a new monitor soon.  We have to get the brakes fixed on our van so that has delayed the process. (It's rarely just one thing, is it?)  I am pretty sure the last time I took this long of a blogging break was when a virus wiped out our old Gateway computer (a very long time ago).

Everything is opening again where I live.  We are still wearing a mask and carrying hand sanitizer and the stores continue to be very cautious.  We made the decision not to go to a restaurant until a mask is no longer necessary since both of us need to be very careful. Otherwise, it is good to get out again.  I was able to wander through my favorite antique mall after getting an eye injection last week (with the mask on).

There are still shortages at the grocery store and the shelves at Walmart are empty of their brand of allergy medicine.  I mean multiple shelves with absolutely nothing on them.  I was speaking to a health worker from the clinic I go to this morning and she said she was not surprised at all.  I did recall that most, if not all, generic meds are made in China.

So I  hope to be back soon to ponder both good things and shortages and this new world in which we live.  I kept thinking this week of how many times it says in the Word to "fear not".  Be brave.  God has got this.  All we can do is bring peace and calm and beauty into our homes and into the lives of those God brings across our path (six feet away, of course).

I think of so many of you quite often!

Image:  I completely forgot this computer has some good photos I had collected over the years.  ;)

Have missed you! Hope that you are able to get that new monitor soon. I know that you have a lot of thoughts about the current state of affairs. It's a challenge to keep things in perspective, but in the great scheme of things these big issues aren't even a drop in the bucket. Take good care...

Miss your posts and happy to hear your doing okay. Our state has opened up for many things including Church services. Our church has strong guidelines in place and is going with limiting numbers per services and disinfecting between each service. We felt comfortable going last week and will continue to go as long as there is no spike in cases. No eating out though!

There are no food shortages here from what I see when I'm shopping, much better than a month ago. But prices are climbing, especially on fresh meat. The only thing I never see is yeast for baking, which really has me perplexed.
Did that many people suddenly decide to make bread? Otherwise the stores are not quite, but almost normal. The only things that are still short on the shelves are cleaning/disinfecting supplies.

Not only do OTC drugs come from China but also most all of our prescription drugs. And also from India. Found this out when my husbands blood pressure med was recalled last year for contamination with a chemical connected to cancer. Very few meds are made in America. The book "China Rx" is a real eye opener as to how vulnerable our medicine supplies are and the need to bring the manufacturing of medicines back to the US.

God bless, Marsha

I've been missing your posts, but understand that this is something out of your control. Looking forward to when you are able to be back with your encouraging words.

So glad to see your update! Hope everything goes well for you and that your computer is fixed, and especially that all is well with your eye. We're all just being careful and trusting the Lord for this virus, aren't we?

So glad to hear that you are well.
They may allow restaurants to open here in a couple of weeks but only if they have patios. The city is looking at ways to expand patio space over the summer - I expect this will mean that some lanes of traffic are closed off - it would be the only way in most cases. I may go to a patio but not ready to go inside to a restaurant as yet.

Wow! You are braver than I (maybe because our household includes my 93 year old father)...

We do enjoy our drives and forays into public gardens where we don't encounter crowds or surfaces.🙋

I'm popping in to say hello. Was nice to catch a glimpse of what's going on in your corner of the world, in your life. Hopefully you'll be able to get a new monitor sooner rather than later. Wishing you grace and peace 'in the midst'. Hope you have a lovely weekend. Brenda L.
