Henry Hodges Needs a Friend, a review
This is the kind of picture book I loved when my children were very young. It has beautiful, large, brightly colored illustrations and a story with just enough rhyme that it makes for an easy read aloud.
Henry Hodges is an only child and has no one to play with in his neighborhood. He is lonely and he needs a friend. So his parents tell him they are all going to get a pet for him. Having quite an imagination, Henry has ideas of what the pet will look like and young children will take delight in the ideas he comes up with in his mind.
But back to real life, Henry and his parents make a visit to an animal shelter where he finds a dog who is also in need of a friend. Of course, everyone lives happily ever after as they should in such books.
This is a lovely book with a message that children will enjoy being read to over and over.
This book was provided by the publisher for review but the opinion is my own.
