Yes, Christopher's rather large bookshelf is suppose to leave when they move out of Married Student Housing. The closet is absolutely stuffed with his things and I'm fairly certain it may not be emptied until they settle in a house someday. :)
However, there is still plenty of space for my things. I'm hoping to purchase a table later this month, even if it is just a folding table like my son had in the room. It will go in the space above.
I have always had a bulletin board, my current household bulletin board is in the kitchen. This one (with the black frame) was a Goodwill find at one time.
It is perfect for displaying favorite family photos and items sent to me by blog friends (and one bloggy granddaughter). :)
I have stored my favorite vintage tablecloths in this room. They add some color that is needed at the moment.
My love of Early American-Primitive means a lot of wood and browns and blacks.
Like hardwood floors and furry squatters. Although I do love both. ;)
The cabinet above has had all the contents removed from the drawers (and the space behind the one door) and reorganized for the first time in years.
It still holds my favorite stationary, candles, candle holders, etc. but the top drawer is now filled with office supplies. It still looks like the antique it is (inherited from my mother-in-law).
While I've shown you the books in the above dresser-book shelf area, the drawers are stuffed full of fabric and craft supplies.
I'm hoping to find an item of furniture (really cheap) to replace the area where Christopher's bookcase now stands for further storage.
I have a few pretty boxes around like the two above (both Goodwill finds) that are also used to store items.
I love the ambiance of this room with the filtered light coming in through the lace.

It's a lovely room...nice view, nice cat, beautiful hard wood floors...
Any chance of packing up the things in the closet and putting them in the garage until Christopher collects them?
Your comment about keeping them until he has a home of his own makes me smile. My kids both have homes of their own...a big house with a big barn and a big attic...and they still haven't collected everything. Every now and then I arrive carrying a box of stuff. I'm sure they love to see me coming.
Having trouble placing a comment...if you have doubles...
I love wood floors!
This is such a nice room - love your view too, through the lace curtain.
I love what you've done here!

Everything looks lovely! You have done a nice job.

A room which has a lot of charm. I love all that you have done to give it a feeling of warmth and personality.
I love also the Japanese concept of "borrowed landscape" where what you can see from your home/windows contributes to its ambience. I have some benefit from this and you do too. It's a gift.
Emily and Ingmar had their own home in PA for ten, but I still have a shelf of her "stuff" in one closet...We'll see.....
What a beautiful room! You are very skilled at decorating. And your sewing machine is absolutely lovely! It is a nice room to spend a hot summer afternoon. Love and hugs, Nana.
It's lovely! It has a very restful feel, too.
Vintage tablecloths and fabric collections. Someday. I hope.
Homey and lovely arrangements.
Oh how I would love to visit in your space. I have a space I have created, too, and get such refreshment from time spent there.
