The garden in late June

I told you it was growing!

I experimented with where I put the tomatoes this year (while at the same time rotating them).  I knew they would grow okay at the one end of the bed but was not so sure about the the two closest to the tree.

The above picture will show you what shade does to a tomato plant.  The one on the right is leggy but at least it is growing.

The one on the left is the exact same plant, planted at the same time but it sits under the tree limb.  Next year I'll go back to planting items which will grow nicely with some shade.

The green beans are growing.  You can't really see it here but the seeds I planted for the second round of beans are sprouting in the middle of the bed.

The kale and cauliflower are both huge.  So far the cauliflower is okay but we've had such a hot spring, I only hope it continues to do well.  I've already harvested some of the kale (which has grown okay for me this year and in the past with heat).

I was pleasantly surprised to harvest one cucumber already.  :)

I love seeing everything grow!  Tomorrow I'll show more of the herb garden.

it is amazing how fast things shoot up! everyday brings something new to our garden. last year i had some things in a garden bed that didn't get at least 6 hours of sun and they didn't do so well. now everything gets 5-8 hours of full sun and it looks great! got my first zuchini last night.

Oh my... didn't that just pop up quickly!

I've got to do some weeding now that the lovely rains have stopped for the time being. They've been enjoying the 'good life'. Fortunately the ground is soft so they'll pull easily.

Enjoy.............

Your garden looks great ... I'm envious. Here in Havasu with temps reaching 115 already even the flower buds dry up on the plant before they open. Can't say as I blame them ... just too hot to grow but great for shriveling!

Wow Brenda. It all looks so healthy. Enjoy the harvest!

It's looking so green and with lots of "tall" things. ☺ Did you plant radishes? I'm thinking of planting some in a pot just because of all the news about eating radishes and remaining healthy.

Your garden is looking good! We have had a few sugar snap peas, but I only know this because Lindsay has mentioned it - she has eaten them right off the vine!

It won't be long before you are enjoying it all!

How lovely! I keep thinking of the saying: He who plants beneath the sod, waits to see and believes in God...

Lovely!

Your garden is so beautiful! Much farther along than mine. Someday, after years and years, my dirt will be good enough to grow a garden like yours!

Beautiful garden! Way to hot and dry here in AZ to garden in the summer. Even potted plants need gallons of water everyday. A beautiful garden is something that I truly miss here in AZ. Yours so reminds me of my garden in NY.

Brenda, it looks so great! The garden is just such a blessing, isn't it? I like writing about our gardening adventures too - we put it raised garden beds for the first time this year...

I forgot to tell you - I ran into Stephanie when we were at MassHope (homeschooling convention in MA) back in April. It was fun to see her again and she remembered meeting me at ISI conference a year ago (when you came out to CT).

Hugs,
Irina

Your garden is doing so well! Yeah! Please share you favorite kale recipes! I don't know what to do with ours! It's not popular here ...

We've had a slow gardening season - but I think that things are finally beginning to grow again. Well, at least the weeds have thrived! We've too much shade this year - there is a sweet gum tree in the middle of the garden and we need to trim some of the lower branches. The raised beds dry out so quickly so the shade was a blessing, but the tree has just taken off this year and the garden needs sunshine! We've had so much rain that I have only water once the whole season so far - well, the kids did run through the sprinkler which was set in the middle of the garden a couple of times, but that doesn't count, right? The days were hot and I'm certain it just evaporated! I hope your tomatoes do really well - there is nothing like a garden fresh 'mater, is there?
