This illness did take a sudden turn for the worse and I ended up in the emergency room. It was bronchitis. (Thankfully not pneumonia.)
I received two breathing treatments before being allowed to return home, along with antibiotics and something with codeine to ease the cough.
This has been one of the most miserable experiences I can recall. I have a new found sympathy for people with asthma.
Thank you for all the advice and suggestions. Keep up the prayer, I still need it for a total recovery.

Whatever this "bug" is, it is definitely attacking the respiratory system like I haven't seen before.
I wheezed and wheezed and I don't usually have any issues with asthma. I finally went to the doctor and asked for an inhaler. He obliged. Others I know have been as sick as you and have spent days and days in the hospital...so do rest and take care.
((hugs))

Poor Brenda!
I will pray for you!
Brenda,
I am so sorry to hear that you ended up in the hospital! I am glad, however, that you received the medicine that you need for a recovery and some codeine to help with the cough. I am still lifting you up in prayer and cannot tell you how relieved I felt when you posted. I was getting worried. Bless you, bless you, bless you! Bonnie
Brenda, may God bless and strengthen you.
Brenda, So sorry to hear you were sick. I have struggled with bronchitis too for many years. A couple things that helped me was taking cod liver oil daily, magnesium supplements ( they relax the bronchial tubes) and increasing my Vitamin C.
Hope you recover soon.
God Bless!
Feel better soon! Honey?? Just let me know if you are out!
Take care,
Matty
you continue to be in our thoughts and prayers. Get well soon!
I am so sorry you are having such a rotten time. I'm grateful there are hospitals and medical people to help!
Will continue to pray. Susan (DE)
Praying for you, Brenda....And very glad that you got the help you needed.
I'm glad you finally got some medicine but sorry you had to go to the ER (that's never a fun)!
Rest and get well soon! Don't try to do too much too soon. Let the men fend for themselves!
Manuela
Surely you are on the road to recovery now -
Sending healing prayers your way! My little grandson has asthma and it is frightening--I have witnessed his struggles first hand! I know you are resting and hope someone is making you chicken soup! I had bronchitis about 14 years ago, and I was so weak I could NOT drive myself to the doctor. I couldn't even squeeze my fingers! Praying for strength and healing for you!
I pray you will recover quickly now. Linda
Brenda,
I was getting worried about you and I'm so sorry to hear you were in the hospital. I'm so glad you're home and able to post!
Please take it easy - praying strength will return soon and the medicine will work quickly.

So sorry that you have been so sick. Last week end my husband was very sick and we had to take him to a CareNow. We are praising God it was not pnemonia as well. There has been a lot of it this year.
HOpe you get to feeling better soon.
Lisa :o)
Oh no!!! I'm so sorry. i do hope that you will feel well soon and be able to enjoy the summer.
Oh, bronchitis. I had that in my 20's and it was miserable. I've rarely been that sick. I'm so glad you were able to get help and hope you will improve rapidly now.
Hugs,
Sallie
Thanks be to God that you are on the mend.
I'm glad that you have gotten the help you need, and I hope you recover quickly now.
When you hadn't posted, I knew something was afoot. So glad to hear that you got the care you needed and that pneumonia was avoided. Praying for your complete and quick recovery.
Good you are getting treatment now. Hopefully you can rest better as well, which will help you heal too.
Oh dear, you poor thing you.

My daughter is still coughing after 2.5 months. I have asthma so respiratory bugs hit in a 'special' way. ugh. BeckyK is right about this particular bug attacking the system like never before. Nasty stuff.
So thankful the breathing treatments (I have my own nebulizer at home) and Rx's are working to bring you relief.
Prayer heavenward <><

Still praying and will continue. You are brought to my mind so often! Sending you a hug wrapped up in prayers!
Wow..I am praying for you, Brenda!
I have to say I was worrying about you. I'm a nurse and we're seeing lots of patients getting pneumonia.
take care...I'm still coughing after my bronchitis from May...cough syrup is still my friend. FEEL BETTAH!

I'm glad to read you are on the road to recovery. I join with all the others praying for you; for good health and for comforting touches and deeds from those nearby.
But most of all, prayers for comfort from the Lord himself, who understands how frail we are. Yet, he gives us the hope of strength renewed like the eagles. I pray you feel that strength within you, even today.
Oh no. So glad that you went to the ER. No sense in not going. Becky K had this bug for forever so I think that she's right. Whatever it is is just plain nasty.
That said, we know the One who has all the healing power that you need and so I am praying that you will be up and about soon.
Take it slow and easy...I bet those guys can cook, clean, do the laundry, and the yard. Call in the church troops, too!
So, so sorry that you were ill. I was speaking in Idaho and a couple of people came by and mentioned you and your wonderful blog. Then, yesterday, a woman came by and said, "Did you know Brenda was in the hospital?' Amazing what can happen if I leave town for a few days. I think you need a nurse or someone wonderful to take care of you. If only I was closer. So sorry. Hope you feel loved and cared for.
Praying.
I know how awful broncitis is, as I've had it before, and with a slight bit pneumonia, so I know how terribly you feel, my friend. I remember it as being one of times that I truly felt really, really sick. I did start to feel much better soon after I started the anti-biotics, but I was pretty wiped out for awhile. So continue to take it very easy for awhile, and don't rush your recovery.
Take good care of yourself. I'm holding a good thought for you.
