I've spent some time in the past few days doing some blog remodeling. Once warmer weather is here for good, there is less time for indoor activities... now is the time to finish some work I've been wanting to do since Blogger gave us new options.
You will notice there are now numerous pages underneath the blog header. By making these available, it will simplify locating archives for favorite subjects. I'm impressed (and humbled) by those who have read through 3 1/2 years worth of posts but I'm hoping this will help a lot.
All the pages are ready except My Home and Family, those pictures will be available very soon. By putting together these pages, I was able to declutter the sidebar a lot.
I didn't have a lot of reading time recently but I did finish Miss Buncle's Book and thoroughly enjoyed it. I think I smiled most of the way through it, especially the second half. I hope to begin Miss Buncle Married today. Stevenson is a brilliant writer. This book reminded me of Barbara Pym's writing which combines good literature and wit. I'm also planning on reading Mrs. Tim Christie before the month ends and one or two more if time permits. I can't thank my blog friends who gifted these to me enough, lovely author!
I'm not certain what nonfiction author I'll concentrate on in April but May is looking like the month when I'll re-read Jan Karon's Mitford novels. May is the big gardening month here so the Mitford books will be just right... light and wonderful to re-read while resting from putting the raised bed garden in. :)
The lost-to-me title of the book I read which inspired the "living off the financial grid" way of life is still lost. My good friend, BB, is also helping by researching as I try to research and remember.

I just finished "The Dean's Watch" per your recommendation. Such a sweet and wonderful story. It is truly a case of love conquering all! Now, I recommend to you "Wee Sir Gibbie" by George McDonald. It is along a similiar vein and is the perfect introduction in case you are not familiar with McDonald. He is my all time favorite author. It is hard to find at times, but sometimes a library will have it.
It looks very nice here...it always does, but a change is good. I really liked your red background and when I found one similar I snagged it only to discover that I had the very.same.one. No wonder I felt right at home! And I have to agree with those who complain about the backgrounds slowing things down and causing a blog to be "fritzy."
The chance to read anymore is so rare that I must make the time because there is very little that I enjoy as much as a good read. I'll be returning here for a good suggestion.
Your comment today in my corner made me grin. John is so delighted with having a decorated home that he makes no complaints. He grew up in a home that was simple and unadorned and went on to similar "decorating." So he's taken to "my style" very well and always comments positively. Phew!
I love the early Mitford novels--they got a little dull by the end of the series, but the first ones are wonderful. I just may re-read them soon, too. Thanks for the reminder.
Oh my, you shame me with all of what you've done, read, and intend to do. I'll have to put on my running shoes!! But I did work out in my garden for a couple of hours this morning. Funny, when I moved here the yard was fairly bare, now it is overflowing and my problem isn't trying to grow something, but trying to somehow tame it a bit.
Do you know that I mostly read non-fiction and haven't read the Mitford series, but since you're reading it I will give the books a read through.

Brenda, I was intrigued by your new look and the new blogger ability with the headings under your banner picture. I just saw that on another blogger today, and I thought what a great idea.
Would you mind telling me what to look for? Is it under Gadgets? I'd be interested in doing this as well.

Mmmm... I've been kinda thinking about the Mitford books too. And with Spring coming (although it doesn't look like it today at our place), it is fun to read them as Father Tim digs in his own gardens.
At present, I've got a few other books on the go, one of which is a real favourite...The Enchanted April, by Elizabeth Von Arnim. I love the movie, and the book is just as delightful.
