Day One

It is a good thing that the Word tells us His strength is made perfect in our weakness. How am I going to do this, how is my husband able to work these next two weeks. We will make it as we have before. :)

I stopped by Wal Mart on my way to pick Christopher up from work on Saturday. Now that was a test of patience! A sea of humanity covered that store and it took me about twenty-five minute just to check out. On the way to my car (which I couldn't locate at first!), I called Christopher's cell phone and told him all 40,000 students were at Wal Mart... with their parents... so I would be late. As it was, I sat in the car waiting for him for a long time. They locked the doors of the bookstore at 6:00 on Saturday and it was 6:30 until the store was empty.

I wonder if all 40,000... with their parents... will be at the bookstore today? Christopher says I was overstating the amount. He says it was only the 15,000 freshmen... and their parents... who were probably at Wal Mart.

Oh, my friends. There are times in our lives when we have to get up and go even when our bodies tell us we need to return to bed. I need another cup of coffee.

If you have time today, would you please read Freddie's comment on the Sunday Afternoon Tea post and pray for the work he is doing. Freddie is one of those friends God has blessed me with through this blog, a Franciscan Friar from Italy. How like our Lord to bring a fifty-something American Protestant and a thirty-something Italian friar together as friends. :)

It breaks my heart that these children are going back to places where "God only knows... literally" what will happen to them. We need to place these kids on our prayer list (and Freddie). Should you have the time, click on his name on the comment and leave a comment on his blog that you are praying for him and the children. He could use that encouragement. There are pictures of these children on his blog.

While you are at it, say a little prayer for my family today! Christopher hasn't had a day off since returning from Baltimore. He's tired and he begins a big load of classes next week.

I'll be posting a give away later this week!

Praying for God's Strength to be very real and evident in your life today. I'm asking God to give you an extra special ray of sunshine...a smile or a comment that just blesses your day.

Oh, I understand this so well.

I'm thankful to pray for the Friar and children. Yes. <><

Bless you this day, Brenda, as you walk in His path. Know that he walks with you, guarding and protecting, loving and ministering.

Having hs'ed for 10 years, yesterday was the first day we hit Wal*Mart for back-to-school supplies.
WHAT WAS I THINKING??
Never again will I do this to myself, leaving the school supplies shopping for the last minute. It never occured to me that half the students and moms in town would be crowding the same aisles I needed to crowd-er, shop in. :)
You'll make it Brenda! We'll be here everyday, cheering you on.
