Calm in the midst of madness

My alarm clock went off way too early this morning. All I could think of was the long "to do" list I had in front of me today (not the least of which is working nine hours).

The sun had not risen above the horizon when I pulled the car out of the gravel drive to take my son to the junior college and then my husband to see his doctor.

Can you feel the tension already? :)

As it turned out, we made good progress through traffic so my son arrived early for his class and my husband let me drop him off a half an hour early at his doctor's office Downtown.

This allowed me a full fifty minutes to drive to the Starbucks between Downtown and Campus to enjoy a cup of coffee.

It was there I allowed myself a small mini-vacation by sitting at a sidewalk cafe table, sipping a latte and nibbling a scone. However, not just any latte nor just any flavor of scone.

No... for we have the return of PUMPKIN SPICE lattes and pumpkin scones (and muffins). Let the Hallelujah chorus begin!

My day continues to be quite long. I will most likely fall into bed about an hour after arriving home from work this evening.

But all is well with the world.

Pumpkin Spice Scones from Starbucks. Oh the goodness of it all! In spring and summer my treat is the Lemon Scone - in fall and winter it is the Pumpkin Spice. Thanks for the heads up!

When is your job at the college completed? Did the person bring back that check (the one you mistakenly returned the check to..)?

Your day will be busy and I'll keep you close to my hardt in prayer.

What is this? Working already? I thought the fill-in-some-work was not till like Christmas vacations?

Ohhhh, you said something about Labor Day too... But today is not anywhere near Labor Day. Today is Wed. Aug. 29. Labor Day is Sept. 3rd.

I am glad to hear that all is well. How much longer will you be doing this working?

Uh,Oh, can't believe ya'll are
talking about more pastries from Starbucks! I just love them. I am kinda hooked on their banana bread. And the fat free coffeecakes are really good. But I have recently discovered scones elsewhere, and they are delicious. And I had not heard about their pumpkin and lemon ones. :-) I also like their wheat bagels with cream cheese. I'm glad you had a little relaxing time before work.

I'm glad you got to enjoy some Starbucks today! My sister (who lives with us) works at Starbucks and has been telling me all about re-stocking their shelves with fall merchandise and bringing out the pumpkin drinks and the new rasberry scone and some chocolate/cinnamon brownie. I can't wait until I get the chance to go myself! I can't believe fall is here! But, it will be such a nice relief after such a hot summer.

Oh I love pumpkin but don't like coffee much, but perhaps I'll cave for THIS!

I thought you were finished working at the bookstore? I know I don't like it when I'm gone a lot from home. I've become more and more of a homebody as I've gotten older.

I am singing the Hallelujah Chorus along with you! The emergence of the pumpkin themed latte and scone from Starbucks has almost become the herald of Autumn's certainty! Yes, I say bring it on! Enough heat! I'm ready for a chill in the air and pumpkin everything!

I love the Pumpkin Spice Frapps at Starbucks but they don't make them in Soy, so they don't like me...
