My World this Week

Pumpkin Spice latte, Autumnal candle (which I did light later), and a book.  Does it get any better?

I'm moving on to other subjects but I need to address one more thing about the comments. I was accused of "outing" the person making the comment.  First, it is not "outing" when a comment is made for it is already public domain.  Second, I have always responded to a comment directly on the blog and I always will.  I rarely talk about a comment because the truly awful ones I just delete and dismiss.

I was never angry at the person who commented about the link.  I was just making the point that I cannot choose or not choose what links to include at the risk of offending people here and there. I never link to a website I wouldn't take Jesus.  He was already at that website.  The webmaster and blogger is a Christian.

Onto more pleasant subjects.  Like kitties.

Reading

I needed something light and portable to read so I downloaded this lovely book to the Kindle.  It was only $2.50-ish as a Kindle download, more in paperback.

Re-Creations had been recommended on another blog (I can't remember who as it has been awhile) for people who love stories about houses and decorating them.  It is quintessential Grace Livingston Hill.   Further information on Amazon is... here.*

Watching & Listening

Have you watched any of Arthur & George on PBS Masterpiece?  It has been very good.  The third part of the Trilogy will be broadcast this weekend but the first two are available online at PBS.  I didn't know much about Sir Arthur Doyle and find he is a most interesting man.  Although one does have to get used to Doc Martin playing him.  ;)

I have been asked to share some favorite book podcasts.  One of the very best is the Read-Aloud Revival.  I first heard about it when Sarah Clarkson was a guest and she shared that she was going to be on it.  It can be listened to as a podcast or online.  Info... here.

Tea Time

The first pumpkin bars of the season and the cup actually contains coffee.  I took half the pan to Mr. & Mrs. Christopher.

Thrifting

I bought the pretty lamp for $3.00 at a garage sale when my daughter-in-law and her mom decided to do look for garage sales after we all attended a women's meeting at the kid's church.

Planning

I use a planner that starts in the Fall.  It's like having a new year!  I decorate it with washi tape at the beginning of each month.  This photo was before it filled up with things to do, places to go, people to see.  I use it to write my daily "To Do" list.

The photo of the lighthouse reminds me of our lovely family vacation in South Haven last year.  I also love lighthouses.  I have artwork hanging in my kitchen of the lighthouse in Holland, Michigan.

Autumnal

Almost all of my Fall decorations are in one box now.  I enjoy seeing them each year.  ;)

Morning Light

Family

Stephanie and Christopher at her wedding.  You can really tell the age difference there!

He didn't have sparkles on his jacket, I need to dust the photo.  Actually, I need to dust the entire house.

Her Fluffiness

I was watching a nature program when I noticed I had company.

Your photos are beautiful. I tuned into PBS Sunday night and saw the Arthur and George about to begin. Didn't watch since I had not seen the first one. Thanks for letting me know I can watch on PBS. We just finished watching the 2013 season of Doc Martin on Netflix. Love that show! I am about to have knee replacement surgery, so looking for some good things to watch and good things to read. Waiting for fall to make it to Florida!

Thrifting! Ha! I was over on a gdonna's blog reading around. She mentioned making a half loaf of bread, for small households. It needed a specific size saucepan. Which I don't own. And the really old, uh vintage ones on Ebay were $$$$. I stopped at my favorite Goodwill and, lo, on the shelf was one lowly pan with a sad loose handle (and very greasy gunky from years of hanging above the stove). Its exactly 5-3/4"x3", perfect and the plastic handle came off easily. $1.99.

I'm bakin me some brot!

So beautiful, Brenda! It has been pleasant visiting with you on this post and the former ones. I consider animated conversation very stimulating. It helps us learn and grow and change, if needed. Sometimes it allows us to look at a thing more closely and decide if a point even needs changing in the first place. One of my favorite people is something of a bombastic personality who loves a great discussion. He would love that your readers are involved and sharing. So many blogs have grown old, stale, and tired. Not yours! Now may I just say that I shall always refer to the dust at my home as "sparkles." Too much fun! Sending love...

Your home is beautiful, and I like that tiny cuckoo clock. Thanks for the tip about Arthur and George, it sounds like my husband and I will like it.

Dear Brenda,

I do not mind differences of opinion. The world would be a very different place if we all are the same. But we see the world through the eyes of our experiences. I am also a Christian and one of the things I am always hyper aware of is cults and am wary especially of people who speak in the name of the Lord. You introduced me to the Economic Collapse Blog. I have done some research on the writer of the blog and come away with a few conclusions. I am in no way, shape or form judging what kind of a christian he is. It is not my place to do so. It is between him and the Lord. But I can see his writings and it aligns with my uneasiness. It goes way beyond differences for me and that is all I have to say about it.

In many ways you and I are similar and I do enjoy the most parts of your blog. For the record, I do not mind being "outed". or am I angry with you or what happened. But I wish our 'meeting' had been more pleasant. I will still be reading because I have learned a lot from you and your blog, but silently. God bless you and yours.

So glad you are reading "Recreations". That is one of my most favorite of all the Grace Livingston Hill books. Have re-read several times. Love your new lamp--so pretty. And your kitty is so cute watching TV. This was such a pleasant post to read--so good to have relaxing breaks like this from all the world events. Blessings to you, Sharon D. (I also have some of the "sparkles" at my house--thanks for a better name for them)!

In your dinning room with the light filtering between the blinds I could picture myself sitting there with a pumpkin pie latte. just to feel myself basking in the love of our Lord and counting my blessings. I am so over joyed that you share so much of yourself. I, like you and so many others have serious health issues, my biggest is chronic pain and lately it has been weighing heavy on my mind, body and spirit. Today has not been a great day but just the fact that I got to let my mind wander away if for only a little while. For this I thank-you so very much. God bless.

What a fun post while taking a much needed break from Latin!! Thank you for the link to the Grace Livingston Hill book. What a pleasant memory as I voraciously read her books in my young adult life. I am looking forward to digging into this one. The picture of Stephanie and Christopher is beautiful, much like my oldest and youngest. Don't let those naysayers dampen your spirit, your blog is uplifting, encouraging and always points us back to God. You are a blessing!

Dear Brenda~
I am so sorry to hear that you are still having difficulties with one of us. Prayers sent to you both :) I for one hope you never stop sharing links or adding fellow bloggers to your side bar. If not for you, I never would have found "Down To Earth" or "Bluebirds Are Nesting" two of my other very favorite blogs!! So many in the world today are dealing with pain, it hurts my heart that they feel the need to lash out at others. Truly enjoyed your blog today, as always, and I'm looking forward to my first fall coffee now as well. Take care dear one.

Brenda, I've always thought of the internet as I do TV when there is something I don't care for, I just turn it off. I don't read that type of blog very often, but realize some people do, its their choice.

Love the morning light pictures! You are so good with a camera. I haven't made anything with pumpkin yet, but do have a box of apple cider doughnuts from our favorite orchard in the kitchen. So good with a cup of tea or coffee!

Blessings to you,
Marsha

I love your post on your week! The light in these photos is lovely and a good tell that Autumn is almost here!

I agree that when someone comments publicly and you refer to it, you have not outed them. It is okay to not agree with everything a person posts or links too. In Bible School, many years ago, I learned about how God used the Egyptians to outfit the Hebrews when they were leaving Egypt. Everything they took with them to the Promised Land came from Egypt. The phrased used was "spoiling the Egyptians," meaning that they took the 'good' and left behind (mostly) the bad. We learned that we can do this too as believers. Perhaps there is a teacher or writer that we may not agree with or who is not always sound. But that doesn't mean we can't learn something from them. Does this make sense?

Anyway, have a good week. Victoria is, as always, a beauty!

Lovely pictures of your home, especially those "light" pictures.
I also enjoy when you "send" us other peoples blogs/and/or book recommendations. We can decide for ourselves then whether or not we want to read them.

I think I missed a lot because when I saw your last converted rice picture, I assumed I'd already read that post. Well......I am enjoying Arthur and George because I like the work of those actors and that sort of period costuming, etc. I look forward to the end because the story line is not quite clear to me.

But most of all, I am enjoying the slow arrival of autumn and look forward to cooler days and a new look in my house.

I am now reading Re-Creations and enjoying it very much! Thanks, Brenda!

I can see that you are ready for fall! The photo of the coffee and pumpkin bar/cake was NOT what I needed to see at 8:30 in the evening when my sweet tooth is calling. akk! it looks so delicious! I love the "light" photos. You have a good eye for the camera. And like another commenter,,I am stealing and adopting your definition of dust....sparkles! genius. My house is very sparkly, hehe.

Hi thank you for you willingness to encourage us in the deepening of our pantry. When I see others say they are putting away chocolate, (and soap). What types of chocolate? How do you store chocolate? I heard that it will absorb the scent of whatever is near it. Thanks, Lorinda
