7 Women and the Secret of Their Greatness, a review

I was excited when I first heard about this book.  Not only is Eric Metaxas a favorite author but I thoroughly enjoyed reading his book about "7 Men".  So I opened the covers of this volume with great anticipation.

It didn't disappoint at all!  For the biography of each woman provided a great deal of information, much I didn't know about.  Each was easy to read and the author shared how faith was a foundation in each woman's life.

The biographies of the women are given in chronological order, starting with the 400s and ending within the past few years.  Most of the women you would most likely be familiar with already but do you know their story?

The seven, in order of appearance in the book, are:
  • Joan of Arc
  • Susanna Wesley
  • Hannah More
  • Saint Maria of Paris
  • Corrie ten Boom
  • Rosa Parks
  • Mother Teresa

I highly recommend this book.  We are in an age where our children need people of faith heroes.  Men and women who accomplished great deeds not in spite of adversity... but perhaps because of it.  None of these women led an easy life as they followed God's calling.  But they did it and they didn't give up and history tells us the importance of their story.

Read it.  You will be inspired to "keep on keeping on" with faith as you live your story.

This book was provided by the publisher for the sake of review but the opinions are my own.

Sounds good and like a book I'd like my teen girls to read. We love for them to be inspired.

That does sound like a good book. Have you read Fierce Convictions by Karen Swallow Prior? If not, I highly recommend that biography of Hannah More.

Adding it to my ever growing books to read queue right now. Eric Metaxas, and his writing style, weren't a favorite of mine, but he's definitely become a favorite over time. And honestly? I'm not at all familiar with St. Maria of Paris. Looking forward to reading about these women!
