The porch on the 4th (or rather the 5th)

We had a delightful time with friends and family on Saturday.  It was worth all the effort to make the surroundings pretty and the food tasty.

I've promised to put a couple recipes over on the recipe blog, which I will soon without photos and then add them the next time the dishes are made.  I also plan a long overdue Question & Answer post soon.

I completely forgot to take any pictures on Saturday but I can share a few photos of how the front porch was all spruced up for America's birthday.  :)

The proverbs verse on the chalkboard is my "life's verse" but I thought it appropriate for my son and daughter-in-law who were in crisis mode at the moment, too.  ;)

Their beloved Mr. Sebastian kitty now resides in a large doggy cage (shhhh... he doesn't know it was meant for pups) in my Study along with a gazillion boxes.   Victoria is not amused and neither understand this is a temporary arrangement.

This looks very charming! I do hope your son and dil's mortgage closing happens soon! These transitional stages are so tough for everyone. Poor Victoria. She probably needs some extra cuddling!

Beautiful decorating. You have my commiseration about the unhappy animals. I like everyone, including my pets, to be happy - sometimes that is a tough order.

Great porch! I miss having a porch.

Great verse for encouragement and poor Victoria and Mr. Sebastian. I hope they settle into this temporary situation.

Your porch looks so pretty. Where did you get the wooden box/trunk?

I love the red boots holding the flags. Buying a house is so stressful..I hope both humans and cats are in their rightful homes sooner than later! I am sure your home was and is a blessing to all your family.

Enjoyed seeing your patriotic porch decor! Wish we had a front porch, but we do make good use of our back deck. We had a very quite Fourth, that is until the fireworks started going off after dark all around us! Hope your son's house closes soon! And hope the kitties learn to tolerate one another's presence! Thanks for sharing!

Lots of cute things you are doing to provide folks with a warm welcome. Love the flags wearing red boots! = D

I have been looking for a small shelving situation like yours. Currently, I'm working with a wooden box. I can be patient.

Glad that the day went well...when's the next party?
