Spring cleaning in the midst of snow showers

It is still cold here.  Cold and just a little snowy.  Enough to make the county roads and Interstate slick.  But the forecast gives me hope that true spring is not far off.  :)

There are many signs of spring in the household.  I've mentioned that it was moi' this year who saw the first robin.  I also said Victoria won the Beanie Baby robin last year. Well, it was this way you see... I heard her responding to something (loudly) in another room and as I looked out the window I saw a flock of robins.  So she won. 

But the Beanie Baby robin stayed on Hubby's filing cabinet where it had been proudly displayed for a year.  Victoria thinks such stuffed birdies are real and she likes to chew them. 

I have a really cute robin my friend, Heather, made me.  I tried keeping it on a low shelf but each time I displayed it, here would come Her Fluffiness with said stuffed robin in her teeth, looking as if she won a blue ribbon at the state fair.  Now the robin is on top of Christopher's bookcase in the study.  So far the Beanie Baby robin is safe on my desk.

I started cleaning the garage yesterday.  I work about an hour at a time, take a long break, work another hour, etc.  I sneeze a lot.  But I want to get as much done as possible before tomorrow when my daughter-in-law is coming over to look through their items in the garage and (hopefully) take some of them away.

I just could not have her coming into the garage in the state it was in from winter's neglect.  She wouldn't mind at all but I would!  ;)

Sooo... hopefully by the end of the week the garage will be in great shape.  Never perfect, of course, but a whole lot better.  I may even be able to locate the lawn and garden items when I need them.

That is another reason for the garage cleaning.  I am well aware once it warms up (which may happen next week), the lawn chores begin.  I also want to do some early spring gardening, perhaps plant a few cold weather items.  I have to wait until mid-May in most years to plant other veggies.

In the midst of the busy-ness of spring, I sometimes think of selling the house in the country and moving to a condo.  But then the flowers start blooming, the Dogwood once again amazes us with its' splendor, the garden begins to produce, and I am reminded why I left the city.

Although downstairs staff would be nice.  Just saying...
