Scary Sunday...

Image from The Weather Channel

The above image says it all.   I don't remember an outbreak of tornadoes that comes close to Sunday in a very long time... and never in November!

We have major devastation in our county but apart from being frightened when the tornado sirens kept going off (and outside it sounded like the end of the world for long periods of time) we came through it with just some downed tree limbs.

Christopher and his wife were visiting friends on campus and had to ride out the storms in a WWII era storm shelter.  He and I texted each other throughout the worst of the storms.  He didn't have signal to call but could text.

We lost power off and on but never for long so we were able to keep our TV on (the one hooked up to the antennae) throughout most of the storm.  I could keep him updated with the warnings.  All the TV stations in the state set aside regular programming until the last tornado warning was out of their area.

To me it is a miracle we only briefly lost power because we've been known to be without power in a much smaller storm... and my friend who lives "in town" was still without power this afternoon.

It took a long time to get Direct TV back, another reason I am so glad the family who lived here before us already had hookups to satellite in one room and an antennae in another.

Hubby had been watching the Chicago Bears game and thought he'd missed the second half.  Only to find out when we were taking cover, so were they!  So he was able to yell cheer them on to victory.  As for Victoria, I think she is still recovering.

Oh My! SO Glad you are safe and only suffered minor damage!! That had to be scary! At least you were able to stay in touch with your son and daughter-in-law during the storms! Interesting that you could still send text messages, but not call. Much to be thankful for!
Blessings,
Laura C.

And all that on the heels of your Sunday post. Incredible. It is almost as if God is letting us know that our safety rests solely in His hands. I'm so glad that you all made it safely through and now I'm wondering what calms kitty nerves.

Hi Brenda! I agree with you. I've never seen a weather map like that before...and especially in November! We here in the St.Louis area sure dodged a bullet, as the saying goes. A few areas had some very minor damage and that's all.
