My World this Week

Weed or wild flower... the eternal question.
I hadn't planned to be gone this long but the vertigo returned late Monday night.  It has not been nearly as bad as the first time it happened in June but enough to keep me on the sofa a few days.

I have been on Benedryl and kept the AC much lower than usual to disperse indoor humidity.  So far it is working and each day I'm a little less dizzy.  Yesterday I finally felt well enough to be up and around a bit.  :)

The Garden
The nasturtiums are beautiful this far into the summer!

The Porch

It has been so damp, the geraniums have not bloomed much until recently.  Now they are gorgeous.

Reading
Absolutely wonderful book for Summer Wine fans. It answered so many questions for me as an American who started watching the show on PBS when in England it was already near the end of its' decades long run.

The author also shares how the BBC Comedy division changed through the years from being pro-family to antagonists against such shows as Last of the Summer Wine when a generation of very young executives took over.  I'm curious if it is still that way.

Watching
I was watching Rosemary & Thyme episodes when my birthday gift of the Summer Wine DVD set arrived.

Have you watched these shows?  They are lots of fun for those of us who love 1) gardens, 2) British mysteries, and 3) seeing older women well portrayed in the media.

Added Note:  I thoroughly enjoyed both of these actresses in their earlier programs.  However, Call the Midwife fans may recognize Pam Ferris as Sister Evangelina.   She's about ten years older than the cover picture on the DVD series.

Cooking
I've been serving lots of tomatoes and corn.

Oh, yes... that is a Christmas plate.  They are my largest plates and work perfectly for certain menus.  Even in August.  :)

Her Fluffiness
I couldn't find Victoria and never thought to look on the family room coffee table!

It wasn't until she moved that I looked over that way and... there she was!

That BLT looks delicious. We sure enjoyed them when the tomatoes were plentiful here earlier in the summer. Gardens are pretty much gone now but were good while they lasted. Your geraniums are very pretty. Glad you are feeling better.
Blessings, Sharon D.

Recently finished watching the entire Rosemary & Thyme series on Netflix before the took it off. Don't understand why they had to do that. Loved the series!

So glad that your vertigo is getting better......And how I love nastutiums. My grandmother always had lots in her garden, so they always make me feel happy! And I enjoy the flowers and leaves in salads.......And am also a fan of R&T and Last of the Summer Wine. Wonderful how the internet lets people find kindred spirits!

So, trying word verification for the third time.....

Brenda, so glad to see your blog post today, even if it is later in the week than usual. Glad your vertigo is on the go! I look forward so much to your posts. They are like checking in with a friend (even though I have never met you!). Your home exudes peace and contentment...so rare in many homes these days.

I would love to watch them because they are decent. But, I can't understand their English very well. Maybe if I watched them more often I could.
Also, regarding vertigo, 2 friends of mine had it and their doctors sent them to a doctor who lays them on a table and somehow moves them around and that usually fixes that.
Good luck.

I am chuckling over the Christmas plates used for their size...I switch to platters for certain meals. Good thing we're alone. I wouldn't want everyone to know that. =D I am sorry that the vertigo returned, but glad that you remembered what to do. Praying that you'll feel better every day.

Phlox isn't a weed is it? Oh, thanks, too, for the recommendations.

Have you experienced vertigo before your last episode in June? I find it interesting because I think we're about the same age (mid 50's?) and my first ever vertigo episode was in March and I've experienced 2 episodes since then. They have ruled out an inner ear thing and a couple of weeks ago I went to a physical therapist who gave me specific neck exercises. But now I'm constantly wondering when this is going to happen again. Mine happens in the early morning hours and it's a scary thing! The dr.'s don't seem to be concerned about it, and they say it is quite common, and then when I read that you were experiencing this too I was so surprised. Have you received any ideas on how to handle it? It takes me a whole day to feel even somewhat normal again. Take care.

So glad you are feeling better. I had vertigo some years ago and the Dr. said it was an infection in my balance tubes. Awful stuff, for sure. Your flowers are lovely and well as your cat.

Of course you had to use the Christmas plates...they go with the red tomato and the green lettuce!
