Except for quiet birthday celebrations, it has been somewhat normal in my world. :)
Reading
I bought this book on the Kindle where it cost approx. $2.50. It is full price in paperback. It contains three novellas all taking place in the same Amish community. A very pleasant read for summer... with good recipes.
Watching
This was my birthday gift from my daughter. It was the last season the actor who played Compo (the one pictured with the trumpet) was alive.Last of the Summer Wine was my favorite British comedy and the longest running sitcom in the world, starting in 1973 and ending in 2010. I have watched the 1970s episodes and don't care for them all that much but the episodes from the mid-1980s on I find quite enjoyable.
This was my favorite season and I've had enjoyed numerous episodes since it arrived.
Beauty
I love how the morning sun shines through the peek of lace "petticoat" on the kitchen valance.
Bountiful
Tomatoes from the farm.
Decorating by Tweaking
Hubby brought home a couple bookshelves he found by a dumpster. Although he planned for both to be placed in the garage, I asked for one of them (not shown here) to use in our bedroom where we needed a taller bookshelf. That made it possible for this small shelf that used to be in our bedroom to be moved into the dining area... where it now holds Goudge and D. E. Stevenson books. Just that little addition looks lovely in its' new home... and yes, there is a cat in the basket next to the bookshelf as shown in the first picture.
Her Fluffiness
Speaking of whom... Victoria became enamored with this bookshelf destined for the garage. Hubby said both the women in his life laid claims on "his" shelves! When she was in another room, the above shelf was slipped quietly into the garage for which it was intended.

I love the way God surprises, providing for extras even beyond our needs - a bookshelf for Goudge and Stevenson - how lovely.
Isn't it funny how cats like to sleep in high places.Give her a hug from me.
Such sweet provision in finding shelves that someone else has discarded. I love that the kitty moved right in, too!
Yes, well, have you seen the prices on those cat towers? That would be an economical alternative! =D
Ohhh...your gift sent me off on a search where I found some full episodes on YT ...just as soon as we finish Edwardian Farm.
How lovely to have more shelves. I like it that you have a special place for Goudge and Stevenson. Somehow it seems like they should be together.=)
LOL! Victoria looks so cozy on that shelf!
That new little shelf looks absolutely lovely filled with those old books and the birdcage on top. Very pretty! The sunlight photo is gorgeous!
Ohhh...doesn't she look comfy in both spots.
What a treat for your special books.
And yes, I too have been enamoured with sunshine streaming lovely patterns on walls. A very pretty shot.
Victoria is a delightful cat!
I love unexpected treasures. Great bookcases and free! My favorite!

I have such a sweet spot in my heart for your Victoria! :) Your husband is quite the provider! I am glad he spotted those shelfs. My husband got me a bit daffy the other day. Knowing I like British shows he went all over the internet giving me names to check out! Your show was one he missed though! Thanks Brenda!! Sarah
I am very impressed by the way you have ordered your books by collection. (Makes me ashamed of my higgledy-piggledy arrangements!)
You have a beautiful home and my favourite posts are those where you show us little corners of prettiness.
Have you every watched 'Dad's Army'? It's a really funny BBC series and if you enjoy 'Last of the Summer Wine' I think you would enjoy this wartime comedy as well.
Best wishes from Cornwall, Enfland
