The Judge's decision

Remembering Summer...

The official letter arrived in the mail on Friday afternoon!

We thought the appeal had gone well but one never knows.  Hubby read it out loud to me, all that legalese to finally get to... Decision for the Appellant.

That being ME!  Hallelujah!

From the questions asked by the State's representative, I got the feeling we were not the first people who had missed sending in this particular item.   It is requested in a different part of the form than all the others and Hubby admitted he didn't see it.

This was our first year of filling out that particular form to prove we were still eligible to purchase the insurance.  All other (numerous) forms had to do with our initial request, the one that kept me on a waiting list for over two years.

When we were asked if we wanted to make any extra statements, Hubby did reply that the system seems unfair if our right to purchase the insurance through the State is dropped because one copy is not included among the many requested.

He told them it was obviously costing the State (already in fiscal trouble), a lot of time and money when all they would have to do is allow for any missing documents to be sent in immediately.  He had even offered to send the missing document Overnight Mail and they declined, saying our only option was to go through the Appeal Process.

Don't get me started on government bureaucracy... but it all turned out well.

Speaking of controversial subjects... I wrote the Sunday Afternoon Tea post with some trepidation, even though it is a subject near and dear to my heart... for denominations were split on less, hehehe.

So I do understand when one must still ponder the subject.  :)

Yay! Double and triple yay! It would seem that the state needs to redo its forms. It would further seem that people are being set up for failure. That's always a nasty position to be in. And, sadly, I think that we're in for much more of these shenanigans.

So very happy for the judgment to go in your favor.

Writing a behind the scenes email with regard to pondering, which I am still doing. =D I don't intend any splits over it.

I am glad to read your good news.
As for your Sunday post, it was completely sensible in my opinion.

Dearest Brenda,

I have been reading your posts rather sporadically as time for such pursuits has been scarce.

I happened to read the original post and sent up a prayer immediately. I am so delighted that He was with you and that you have prevailed.

Your most kindred spirit,

Oh, Brenda! What wonderful news. And I so much feel that it was the right decision. Also, that they should have let your husband send it in as he requested and saved everyone a lot of money and effort and in your part, a lot of anxiety!

Do you ever read Sojourners magazine? There is a fascinating article this month about Osward Chambers and I felt it fit, in a sort of tangential way, with your thoughts on Sunday Afternoon Tea.

Glad that they decided in your favour. Governments and their paperwork!

Re. Sunday Tea- I agree with you. What's wrong with 'secular' occupations? It seems to me that we are called upon to use whatever gifts God gives us, whether it is preaching or repairing cars. One might ask the preachers if they would rather have their brakes repaired by a skilled mechanic or a preacher. :)

SO glad this mess is all ok again, Brenda...and you are so right...it is a shame how much taxpayer money is wasted. One thing hubby learned working for a govt job too...you CANNOT save the govt money. When he went on trips for them, if he tried to save them any money, it ended up HE has to pay some out of his own pocket on those trips!! We learned and quickly...but isn't it a sad system though??
