The official letter arrived in the mail on Friday afternoon!
We thought the appeal had gone well but one never knows. Hubby read it out loud to me, all that legalese to finally get to... Decision for the Appellant.
That being ME! Hallelujah!
From the questions asked by the State's representative, I got the feeling we were not the first people who had missed sending in this particular item. It is requested in a different part of the form than all the others and Hubby admitted he didn't see it.
This was our first year of filling out that particular form to prove we were still eligible to purchase the insurance. All other (numerous) forms had to do with our initial request, the one that kept me on a waiting list for over two years.
When we were asked if we wanted to make any extra statements, Hubby did reply that the system seems unfair if our right to purchase the insurance through the State is dropped because one copy is not included among the many requested.
He told them it was obviously costing the State (already in fiscal trouble), a lot of time and money when all they would have to do is allow for any missing documents to be sent in immediately. He had even offered to send the missing document Overnight Mail and they declined, saying our only option was to go through the Appeal Process.
Don't get me started on government bureaucracy... but it all turned out well.
Speaking of controversial subjects... I wrote the Sunday Afternoon Tea post with some trepidation, even though it is a subject near and dear to my heart... for denominations were split on less, hehehe.
So I do understand when one must still ponder the subject. :)
