Just what I am thinking at the moment...

A peaceful scene along the Wabash River

Hopefully we are at the end of a whirlwind busy season here at home.  Just in time to turn our attention to the lawn and garden, getting it ready for winter.  We've had one frost when we dipped down to 33 degrees and I'm certain a freeze is not too far off.

I am way behind on e-mails and blog posts have been less frequent.  Such things occur when "life happens" but it looks... kinda... sorta... like things are slowing down and my attention can once again be turned this way.

There will be a blog break for awhile beginning October 12th.  My retinal specialist has decided surgery is the best option for my left eye to slow down the damage done by diabetes.  I am thankful there are such options these days since I remember my Uncle going blind due to Type 1 diabetes!

Wasn't it interesting seeing the difference between the way I viewed the Feast of the Hunter's Moon and Heather's pictures?  I know part of the difference is between a first time attendee and one who has been going for years.

But I think it also shows the difference between one just wandering through the festivities instead of stopping and viewing each part of it with younger children along.  Kids force one from a macro to a micro look at life.  :)

This is the first autumn in years that we aren't traveling to meet the New England Contingent at their home or to join them at another destination.  It seems quite impossible that it has been a year since we went to Colonial Williamsburg!

I was looking at my Susan Branch calendar yesterday and realized it is soon time to turn to another month.  I feel lately that time is like a wind up toy that someone has wound too tightly and the days are flying by at a dizzy pace.

I have books to write about (much less read), recipes to share, things to ponder, and photos to snap... all while time is passing at warp speed!

Both your post and Heather's post about the Hunter's Moon were great. I am always intrigued by the differences in photos and viewpoints. I like the way you have interpreted the differences.

Ahhh, yes, life it just keeps zipping past. Good thing I write a blog or I wouldn't know what happened last week. Truly.

How wonderful that you are living in a time when steps can be taken to preserve your eyesight. I had no idea. How long will you be out of commission? Will be keeping this all in prayer.

Oh, if you're not going to meet with the New Englanders this year is it possible that they are coming to you for a later holiday?

I agree on time flying by. I thought when you got old, things would slow down. Not true with us. Love your blog and your book reviews. Thanks.

You're right about time flying as we get older. So true.

I can't believe September is almost over!! What a crazy year it's been - I won't be sad to see it come to an end that's for sure.

It's wonderful that such surgeries are available. I'll be praying that your surgery goes well and that you have a speedy recovery.
