The recipes are posted
I finally have the old cowboy casserole and the new lentil soup recipes posted... here.
I love finding new recipes that are cheap and delicious! Even my husband (who is not as fond of lentils as I am) loves the lentil soup with bacon.
With the rising prices of food showing up each time I go to the grocery store, I am so glad I've assembled a good collection of simple but yummy recipes through the years. Many of them came from my three old Beverly Nye cookbooks.
Since Christopher is not all that fond of lemon desserts (even with the sweeter Meyer lemons), I wanted to make a treat he'd enjoy so I pulled out one of my Beverly Nye recipe for cocoa bars and frosted them with an easy chocolate frosting. This recipe makes a cake style brownie... here.

Yum! I love love love Beverly Nye!~ She was always so chipper and positive! And, she was a fine cook!
Brenda,
Thank you so very much for these delicious sounding recipes. (MD)
I've never heard of Beverly Nye. Where have I been? I'm checking these recipes out as I am always looking for tasty and frugal.
Have checked out your recipes and they sound very good! Think I'll get the fixin's for both of them and try them out this weekend. Thanks for sharing your good recipes. Bess
Thanks for posting these, Brenda. I have tried several of your recipes that we have enjoyed, especially the chicken spareribs. When we lived in MI I saw Beverly Nye on a morning news program one morning and ordered her book, "A Family Raised on Sunshine." She has lots of good recipes and tips.
Thank you!! Another sunny and warm day in Oregon today. I'll see if I can't send you some as a token of my appreciation. ;)
Hi, Brenda. I made the cocoa bars last night for a fast dessert. They are delicious. They worked out great in my smaller pan (7" by 10"), though they took a little longer to bake. I'm sending my mother the recipe. She loves cocoa based cakes.
The Hershey coca icing is our family favorite, too.
Have a nice weekend. It's supposed to reach 50 degrees here on the weekend, which means you're probably basking in warmer weather today!

I am going camping this weekend, and plan to make Cowboy Casserole one of the days. My husband said "anything with the word 'cowboy' in it, HAS to be good!" Thanks for posting the recipe. I'm betting it will become a standard for us.
