Visiting the beautiful new home!

Welcome over the door

I wish I'd taken more pictures of the inside of the new home of those whom we call The New England Contingent  (that being our daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren).

However, the last day there when I had planned to take more pictures, my camera batteries died.  But I do have plenty to share...

I love yellow and red together so I really really really love the outside of their house.

You can understand why I would become distracted by the beauty when I was suppose to be playing baseball.

Part of the back yard... love the red shed!

Can you tell a Charlotte Mason homeschooler lives here?

This is just an example of... cottage meets whimsy meets elegance.

For souvenirs of their trip to England last year, they brought back beautiful artwork (as this one in the frame, I don't know what building is shown). They have this art throughout the house that brings back memories of special places they visited.

She was going to replace the lighting fixtures on each side of the fireplace in the living room.  Instead she just switched to the deep red lampshades and it is beautiful!  Her sofas are dark leather and the light fixtures balance that side of the room nicely.

You know I'd love the door to the pantry!

Stephanie's kitchen and father... not necessarily in that order.

My son-in-law's very sweet and lovely mother.  I keep telling Stephanie how fortunate she is to have such a great mom-in-law.  Hubby and I had just come from having a special Sunday brunch with them (the "other" grandparents).  We had so much fun together and laughed a lot and talked about how brilliant and beautiful are our grandchildren.

Shown are two more of the "England" pictures in view on the walls, I think they are watercolors?  She also has three photos framed over her bed which are pictures she took in England and had enlarged for just a few dollars (she framed them herself).  Beautiful!

I really wish I'd taken pictures of the formal dining room they turned into a combination library-home office.  Perhaps she can put some pictures of it on her blog soon (hint, hint).

Oh, regarding the meaning of Tookish-- It was suggested that Bilbo Baggins unusual behavior (the need to wander from home) was due to the Took side of his family, who were known as being rather unusual and adventurous... unlike the more stable and respectable Baggins side who never felt the need to wander from home.  ;)

Next time I'll share a few fun things we did and that should be the last of my vacation posts, maybe, possibly.

Very nice...and I, for one, wouldn't mind more vacation pics.

Where did Stephanie get the PANTRY lettering? I really like that! Is it a stencil or a rub-on?

Such a wonderful place to bring up a family. It looks as if they have plenty of room and Stephanie has created a very pleasing environment for her family. Just lovely!

That is a wonderful family home! I love her "Welcome" over the front door (and of course the red door!) and the "pantry" sign on well, the pantry!

Again, I am so happy for you to go and have a visit!

I was ill on Friday, and Saturday left for my daughter's in PA and just returned home late today with all these lovely posts to look at all at once. What a joy! I think your daughter and her family have a wonderful home! May they all live and love one another there for years to come, growing in wisdom, age and grace.

What beautiful autumn colours in your photos. Autumn is my most favourite time of the year.
Here in New Zealand we are heading into summer.
Thanks for the reminder.

Thank you, Brenda for clearing up the tookish reference. Now I understand. I have never read the hobbitt stories before or watched lord of the rings because that is normally not my style, but now I think my son and I will read it for read aloud time.
Stephanie and DH have a lovely home. Is that light sage green on the walls? My kitchen is decorated in the same colors of sage green and deep red(known as sangria red) I have the same exact color and style kitchen aid as she.
I am so glad God blessed you with a refreshing trip to see your loved ones and always worth the cost it takes on our bodies just to kiss the sweet little cheeks. May your day be blessed with peace and rest you need. How is the new book recommendations list coming?

Blessings,
Jeanie in KY

How beautiful and lovely! I shall try not to be jealous of the artwork. lol

Totally loved the picture of the blackboard!!! As an Elementary Education major (and a former homeschooler) I find it all too true. :)
