Sunday Afternoon Tea

Thank you so much for your comments and e-mails. I appreciate them very much.

It has been a difficult weekend as I walk in the house and by habit glance at the sofa where Sasha spent most of her days, doing what Sasha did best... nap. She was a black belt napper since her kitten days.

You would think as I knew that day was inevitable, it would be easier... but how heartbreaking it was to wash out their blue kibble container and mauve water bowl (the popular "colors of the day" back when we purchased both 18 1/2 years ago) for the very last time. Although she had stopped eating and drinking a few days earlier, I couldn't bring myself to wash and put them away until she was under the dogwood tree.

I'm not quite up to writing a true Sunday Afternoon Tea today. So... I leave you the lovely video I found on Tullian Tchividjian's blog, honoring his late grandmother... Ruth Graham... a tribute to a woman I admire set to the music of a favorite song (and singer). Have a blessed Sunday. :)

I'm so sorry to read about your kitty passing. 18 and 1/2 years is a long time to be with a pet! Our pets have only been with us 9 months to 3 years, and already I can feel how sad it would be to lose them. Blessings in this time of sadness.

I remember that feeling too of having to wash out our kitty's bowls for the last time......

I still have tucked away in a drawer the last blanket my black kitty, Gilbert, laid on his last night. Never washed it and it's several years.

Sending warmest thoughts..... I once had a picture of Jesus holding my kitty in His hand, and I could feel the love He had for her (as He does for all His creation).... it brought me sooo much comfort.

Warmest thoughts and hugs.

Brenda,

Thank you for posting the youtube video. I watched through tears. Ruth Graham reminds me a lot of my great-memaw who was my inspiration for being a lady and who always pointed me to Christ. I was blessed to have her just as the world was blessed to have Ruth Graham. She was a real life example of a a wife and mother who truly followed Christ.

Brenda, I know exactly how you're feeling. It's been 3 months today and I still glance at my beloved Jackie's favorite spots and I've kept all his things. The hole we feel is so deep but, here's hoping comfort to you in some way.

Brenda,

I look forward to your daily posts, especially on Sunday. Though you were suffering through your personal sadness today, you still gave your readers something wonderful to watch, enjoy and ponder. Ruth Graham was a marvelous example of a servant-hearted wife who showed the rest of us how to love our husbands and children and still serve the Lord. May you feel the Lord's strong arms wrapped around you today and tomorrow. I trust Him to care about His children in the finite details of life. He is faithful to bring you through this hard time.

Praying for you,
Linda Hibner

Brenda,

You touch a lot of our lives in a good way. Thank you so much for posting this video. I'd never heard the song until I heard it on your playlist, and I've added it to mine. When it comes down to it, Jesus is all we have permanently. We are loaned family and friends and beloved pets, but they are only on loan. I pray you are allowed to feel the warmth of the loving arms of our Saviour around during this time.

Thanks for sharing the video done by Ruth Graham's grandson. It is beautiful! I loved her. I still laugh about her telling that she had the kids in the car and Franklin was acting up. She stopped the car and took him out on the side of the road and talked to him and then put him in the trunk. Now, that would be child abuse and she would be taken to jail. She had so many years of raising those children by herself while Billy was doing the Lord's work.
Sorry about your kitty! I extend my sympathy to you.
Love,
Marie

Hi Brenda,

My sincere condolences to you and your family on the passing of your beloved kitty. I know how very much you loved Sasha, and I know how hard it is to have to say goodbye. My first cat lived for 17 years, before dying, and I felt the change in our home, so very much, and I feel so sad for you.

Take care, Brenda.
