Feeling a little better

So far I'm doing well, just incredibly weak. Each day that goes by without any serious symptoms is "a good thing".

Today is one of the 7:30 am classes so Christopher drove in to campus on his own. He called after the first class was finished, telling me he was headed to his favorite coffeehouse for caffeine. ;)

I asked him to check in once in awhile, just to let me know how he is feeling. The University is very concerned about all illness right now since that age group had the largest amount of serious complications during the spring flu season.

This is hubby's last week of work and he's quite ready to put the long hours behind him. The seasonal job is easy in many ways since it is only two or three weeks each semester, perfect for someone on Disability to make a little extra money.

It is quite chilly outside even though we are now at mid-morning. As soon as it warms a little more, I will check the garden for green beans and cherry tomatoes and sweep the front porch.

The leaves have begun falling already and many have found themselves carpeting the porch and deck. Only those who live in or near a forest can fathom the amount of leaves which end up on the ground each year.

Another sign of an early autumn... the sound of black walnuts dropping on our roof as squirrels scamper in the large backyard tree. I think black walnuts are the squirrel equivalent of good chocolate in my world. :)

I put out of my thinking all that follows autumn, especially driving on ice and snow. Instead I can hardly wait for apples to ripen, large pumpkins on the porch, Indian corn, butternut squash baking in the oven, and cranberry season.

I'm hoping to feel better soon as we're planning a trip to New England in October. Stephanie has been working to bring our families and the Clarkson ladies (Sally, Sarah, and Joy) together for two or three days (and perhaps Joel will join us since he is in school in Boston).

It all started when Stephanie told me Sally is to be one of the speakers at a conference in Hartford, Connecticut and I shocked her by saying I'd be willing to travel... add to that my son-in-law's willingness to pay for our plane tickets (although we've decided to drive) and I just couldn't say no. New England should be gorgeous in mid-October. This visit will replace getting together next May.

Oh, I did want to mention something about the laniersbook site I wrote about yesterday. I should have mentioned her archives are actually under the Journal listing on her site. Thanks Jody for the comment.

Oh my...coming here is like visiting an old friend. I used to be a regular reader a few years ago and had a blog called "Blessed and Blooming." I'm not sure if you remember me. I don't know why I stopped coming by, but I plan to be back. Anyway, I am sorry to hear you've been ill and glad you are on the mend.
