Fearless, a review

Max Lucado is one of my favorite authors. I have always thought it rather silly that some people think his writing shallow and not very theological only because his writing is quite beautiful and well loved by many people.

This book reminds me again of his ability to combine easy-to-read prose with an enormous amount of scripture to back up his thesis. In Fearless he takes us from the Gospels to the Epistles, from stories about his own challenges with fear to others he has helped as a pastor and author.

I love this paragraph on Page 5... (can you see that he immediately grasps my imagination):

"Fear never wrote a symphony or poem, negotiated a peace treaty, or cured a disease. Fear never pulled a family out of poverty or a country out of bigotry. Fear never saved a marriage or a business. Courage did that. Faith did that. People who refused to consult or cower to their timidities did that. But fear itself? Fear herds us into a prison an slams the doors."

Yes, there is a reason I love to read Lucado.

He reminds us that fear is the default emotion, that we must choose faith.

Here are some of the chapters: Fear of Disappointing God; Fear of Not Protecting My Kids; Fear of Worst-Case Scenarios; Fear of Violence; Fear of Coming Winter; Fear of What's Next; Fear That God Is Not Real; Fear of Global Calamity... and many more.

This is an excellent book for a time such as this as our world appears to be falling apart before our eyes. Not only would you enjoy it but it would make an excellent gift to give one whom you know is dealing with fear.

The theology is good... the reading is easy. Can it get any better than that?

I've always loved his books. Simple to read and yet the message always so profound. There hasn't been one of his books that I haven't liked or learned from. Excellant author!!

This definitely sounds like my kind of book as well. I have a number of Lucado's books and love them and reread them often. He speaks clearly and poignantly and that is a gift.

Your fall header is so pretty! I'm surprised by all that color so soon, but perhaps it was taken in a previous year.

Hi Brenda :)
We haven't read this one yet, but we also enjoy Max Lucado. I've always loved the way he puts words together, too.

My sweeties are big fans of his Hermie series - they know him as "Mr Max" from the intros :)

Thank you for the review! Love & hugs, Q

I,too, love Max Lucado. His writing is so direct and he can explain things so plainly. I feel God has given him such a glorious gift. His books have touched me through the years. I will have to get this one also. His writing is so comfortable to read, if that makes sense.
