Sally Clarkson give away

Um... no, I'm not giving Sally away! I'm giving away two wonderful Whole Heart Ministries items they have provided, though.

I first "discovered" Sally and Clay when I used their book, Educating the WholeHearted Child, as a guidebook in the early days of my homeschooling journey.

I listened to one of Sally's tape series over and over until I had practically memorized her wisdom. The first time I listened to it, I had taken a very young Christopher to the playground and I felt like I was listening to an old friend chatting over tea while I pushed him on the swing and let him play in the sand.

Later, I started reading Sally's books and receiving her ministry letters. I enjoyed how open and honest Sally was in her books for I knew she had gained wisdom the hard way... life. I know in the movie Shadowlands, there is the famous Lewis quote that "we read to know we are not alone". However, I had never felt like an author could read my mind before. My feelings were later echoed by Stephanie when she began to read Sally's books... how the things their family enjoyed were so similar to us!

Here is another woman who finds herself driving to a cafe or coffee shop in the morning with her Bible, pen, and paper (or journal)... savoring a hot drink and perhaps a sweet morning snack. She has moved almost as often as I have but since some of her moves have been "across the pond and back", she takes the endurance award there.

Life has not been easy for the Clarkson's... they are not perfect people and I know she wouldn't want you to think they are perfect... she is honest about that in her books... but they work together as a family through trials and tribulations to minister as God has called them... to the homeschooling community... and to Moms around the world.

One of the joys that has come through the access the Internet has given me is to become a friend of Sally's and to get to know her better. We are twins separated at birth... despite not having the same birthday. Fraternal twins... she's a blond and my hair used to be naturally black. If life does not permit us tea time together in this world... I get dibs on a hundred years of tea and conversation in Eternity!

You will love The Mom Walk, even if you do not homeschool. This is taken from the back of the book... you will:
  • Discover the gift of sacrifice
  • Cultivate a heart for the Word
  • Embrace your very own home-based ministry
  • Set spiritual goals for yourself and your children
  • Nurture fellowship and support other mothers
I read this book when it first came out and thought it to be so helpful (as well as an enjoyable read).

And... the CD series she sent... it is the CD version of that tape I practically wore out listening to all those years ago. Mom's will enjoy it even if their kids go to public or private schools. It would also be perfect for those considering homeschooling.

The title is: WholeHearted Child Home Educating Workshop; Educating the WholeHearted Child and it's message contains:
  • Shaping Your Child's Heart to Live for God
  • Strengthening Your Child's Mind to Learn for God
  • Living and Learning Together at Home
  • Enjoying Homeschooling As a Way of Life
Did you know many of Sally's WholeHearted Mother's Conferences are on CD... check these out.

All you have to do is leave a comment on this post between now and Saturday at 5:00 EST. Maybe a little later if I can't get to the computer quickly. Would you do me a favor, would you spread the word on this one? I'd love for even more people to have an opportunity to know about Sally's books and teaching CD's.

If you do let others know, just leave an additional comment on this post and you will be entered to win more than once! You don't even have to put it on a blog, if you don't want... I'll take your word for it that you let at least one other person know about this give away.

And... thank you to Sally for going along with my request for the book and CD to offer to you all. She didn't have any idea I was going to make such a big production out of it. :)

I'm so glad you introduced me to Sally Clarkson! I can't believe I'd never heard of her before your blog, but I have enjoyed several of her books since then, and her husband's book on parenting. I've recommended them to others as well. And, Sally is a tea-lover, isn't she!!!

I've never heard of Sally Clarkson, but the book looks like something I might enjoy and profit from, even as a grandmother. My husband and I homeschooled our =teenage= son, in the 11th grade. It was a choice, not a have-to, except in the sense that his education was terribly lacking in public school. It was a life-changing experience, one I whole-heartedly recommend. I look forward to relationships with my grandchildren.

Hello, Brenda, the book sounds delightful and like one I would love to read. I will be sharing your post with a couple of my friends, but I don't feel like I need to enter my name a second time. Thank you for a lovely place to visit!

Jean suggested I drop by and so here I am. Taking a quick break from an editing job this evening. So, you know I love WORDS. I've heard the name Sally Clarkson before but never have seen her books. What invites me to comment is that she refers to the "heart" in her titles. That grabs me. So much writing today is all about "principled living" and "making our lives work" and I am not there. I want a new heart. So please enter me! And thanks so much.

I would love to be entered in the book give away. I would love to have this information for my granddaughter, Avery. If she is your twin, I know I will enjoy the book. The CDs would be great for my trips back and forth from Atlanta. Brenda, I had my first Pumpkin Spice Latte of the season and thought of you.

It's funny, the very same feeling you said you got from Sally's Tapes is why I read your blog every morning. That feeling of not being alone, and of being able to learn from the wisdom of a lady who is walking the same path that I want to walk.

Thank you for what you already give us for free, every day.

I met Sally a few months ago in my store. Her friend and my customer Deb Weakley brought her in to meet me and chat. Since we are all Christians - we had a lovely visit.

Brenda,
Just wanted to go public with my mutual admiration. I have always wanted a sister and it continues to be uncanny the tastes and life we share, and our mutual loves--family, books, tea, music and homeschooling among the top! I pray God's grace and blessings will surround your sweet family! I appreciate all the ways you give of your life to so many.
Love and blessings,

I LOVE the WholeHearted Child! It is quite possibly the best book ever written on homeschooling, but also an excellent parenting resource for those who choose other schooling options for their children. Highly recommended!

Please enter me in your drawing!! I can honestly say that the Clarkson's Educating the WholeHearted Child changed our homeschooling and made it 100% better. Those changes made almost 10 years ago, still bless our family to this day.

I ADORE Sally Clarkson!!
She has been one of the biggest inspirations to me as a mom. And will always be one of my favorite writers. I'm a new mom.. my little man is only 2 years old. But Sally (through her books) has been instrumental in my decision to homeschool Luke.

Btw - this is my first comment to your blog - but definitely not my first visit. I've been visiting here for about a month now. You have been such a blessing to me too! Such wisdom from someone who is ahead of me in their mom walk.

Thank you! I'd love to be entered in your draw - but I live in Canada and don't want you to have to incur the extra $$ for postage. I just wanted to leave a comment to introduce myself and to say how much I adore Sally myself!

Blessings to you,
Tracy

Brenda,
I love to read your blog! I always say that I am a homeschooling mom that sends her kids to public school. I say this because I supplement and build on what they are taught in school. We are blessed to live in a top rated school district and my children have had wonderful experiences and teachers through these years. I would love to see what these materials can add to the experience and then I will pass on to my HSing friends.
Bright blessings,
Kim

Brenda - I've never heard of Sally Clarkson but I love the title. I have been homeschooling for 13 years (6 children) and need some encouraging words - fresh perspective to overcome the daily chore it has become. What started as a ministry to my children has just become hard. Anyway, I appreciate the opportunity to have words of wisdom from your give away. Thanks for your encouraging blog.
