It has been a very strange day here and I can blame it completely on Christopher. :)
He and I will be heading out about 1:00 in the morning to the town nearest us that has an Interstate ramp with restaurants open all night. His friend from Iowa City is going to be meeting him there (at one of the all night eating facilities) at some middle- of- the- night time. They need to be in Baltimore around 1:30 tomorrow afternoon.
I'm hoping hubby feels well enough to go along with us as I truly don't want the ride back alone... over the river and through the woods and all that.
I tried to get a couple naps in today since I am definitely not a late night person. So my body clock is completely off by now and I didn't get anything else accomplished except a quick grocery store trip.
My grocery stores discounts meat about 9:00 in the morning so I stopped there after dropping Christopher off at work this morning. I hit a bonanza and bought ground beef, round steak, and deboned chicken breast. Everything was on clearance except the deboned chicken breast but it was at such a great sale that they limited purchases to three family size packages.
Since I now have my freezer organized (albeit it is MUCH emptier than the pictures I showed earlier since we haven't bought much meat in two months), it took about twenty minutes to pop individual meat containers into either gallon size or two gallon size (for family size pkgs.) Zip Lock bags (stored in the freezer and used over and over again), place them in the appropriate huge Zip Lock bags and get them in the deep freeze.
I have begun marking everything even though the labels show through the zip-lock bags. I bought narrow labels at Wal Mart last month and I now mark the day and month on the label (and what is in the pkg.) and place it on the packages or on the Zip Lock bag... whatever works best. This way I'll know what needs to be used first. I'll just stick a new label on the next time it is used.
I bought quite bit of meat for $37.00, especially good since the deboned chicken breasts were in family size packages. I usually open them and separate the chicken breasts into three per package but this time I left them together. I'll use what I need for a recipe and then prepare the remainder for other recipes later in a week or use them for when I want to "cook for the freezer". For the most part, I only use meat that I can find on sale so this was a good trip to the store.
If you find time, keep Christopher in your prayers that he have a safe trip. They will be driving long distances on little or no sleep (there and back). The New England contingent will drive to Baltimore to meet up with him during his visit there and have lunch (?) together one day.
I could use prayers, too. I'm already feeling a bit loopy and there are hours to go before I will be able to get to bed (hours and hours unfortunately). Not to mention driving while sleepy. Yawn...

Dearest Brenda,
I will keep you close to my heart and in my prayers!
I know that I always offers up prayers anytime my children are out driving. I will keep Christopher in prayer tonight!
God's protection is mighty!
I hope you have a restful day tomorrow...you have been through a lot lately and I would think that a few more days of rest would be a very good thing.
Yours so very truly,

Dear Brenda,
I'm going to pray for safety for you and Christopher and the other travelers right now.
Prayers for all of you continue.
Dee from Tennessee
Oh, Brenda, I will be praying.
I got myself in a tizzy this afternoon in a "reverse" situation. My elderly mother was doing a friend a kindness and it was going to involve my elderly mother driving through rush hour traffic after a 12 hour day in the neighboring "big" city.
I had just decided to lose a day of work and drive them myself when the situation was resolved by someone else offering to drive.
I know beyond a doubt that God worked that out. No doubt.
Will be praying for "traveling mercy" as my former pastor would say for Christopher and you.
Keeping both you and Christopher in prayer. I know that some days were a lot better than others in the weeks that followed losing my tooth. Take care and know that the Lord is on the job.
I hope your husband felt good enough to go with you. Boy, what we don't do for our kids! You're a good mom and I must say here, I would have done the same thing for any one of my kids too! Bless you!
