Tasha Tudor Day

If I had the time, I could wax poetic about how much I loved the work of Tasha Tudor. Many pages of my original scrapbook are full of articles about Tasha and pictures of her beautiful home and surroundings.

Tasha lived her life as many of us only dream of living. The only person I know who comes close to Tasha is my friend, Jewels. :)

My favorite Tasha book "memory" happened many, many years ago when Stephanie was but a toddler. I was shopping with my mother (whom I still miss dreadfully) when I purchased Sasha's illustrated book of The Night Before Christmas. I remember telling my mother that this was Stephanie's favorite illustrator and mom being quite amused that I thought a toddler would have a favorite book, much less an illustrator.

Obviously, she did not know her granddaughter. Later she would not be laughing as Steph not only loved books but images, illustrations, and all things beautiful.

I thought of that long ago shopping trip when I heard Tasha had passed away... a mental photo in a life that has passed by quickly... of a day when three generations of ladies in my family was touched by the work of Tasha.

I don't remember exactly but I can almost assure you Mamaw took the two of us to lunch at a favorite cafeteria where she allowed Stephanie to order mac and cheese, green beans, and red Jello. I am certain she would have told me she would order a piece of pie if I would... as she always did when we went out.

Tasha, Stephanie, and Mom... it doesn't get much better than that.

Brenda, what a sweet memory. I also miss my mother so much. It's been thirty years, but I still catch myself wanting to call her and share something. I will certainly check out more on Tasha. She sounded like a wonderful person.

Nice tribute...your daughter has always had wonderful taste! I don't have a lot of Tasha Tudor memories save for a little miniature set of books for each of the four seasons. I loved those books.

I'm also a Tasha Tudor fan. I love her illustrations especially the ones in The Secret Garden.

I love Tasha Tudor's artwork and her lifestyle. Although she never claimed to be a Christian, she had the wonderful idea of an outdoor nativity and a hike in the woods to see the 'baby in the woods'. I incorporated this into an Awana evening the week before Christmas. The children loved it!

What a lovely memory! I've always envied Tasha her gardens - so gorgeous. It seems like she had a wonderful life. Jewels life does seem very Tashaeque!

Tasha Tudor was a gifted woman who passed on the fruits of her creativity for so many of us to enjoy...I love the book with the picture of floating the birthday cake down stream at night........You also reminded me of how surprised I was, years ago, when I was about to go to the library by myself and two year old Emily asked me to bring her some books by Richard Scary back from the library for her. Not high brow reading, but how many two years old even know that books have authors! No wonder she's my postdoctoral scholar at Penn State. And now her daughter Sofia is just turning one and loves books already.......It brings a song to my heart to see this love of books going on in my family.Brenda, I am praying for you! You are almost finished with your work, aren't you?
