Friday night after a very long week

I can't tell you how blessed I am by your e-mails, comments and even GIFTS! My husband has found me sniveling over a card or package more than once this week and talking about how wonderful it will be to meet friends in person someday... here or There. I am deeply touched. I also appreciate the prayers said on my behalf as I've been walking through this unexpected and painful procedure.

Speaking of said husband... after I spent the entire day running past due errands in the heat and humidity (I even spent $1.75 on a a big bottle of water and I complain about $3.00 a case at Wal Mart!), he was reminding me late this afternoon that I still had to work on the t.r.a.n.s.c.r.i.p.t. and that it would have been easier if I hadn't lost the hard copy that he had given me of the Freshman and Sophomore years.

I figured I did lose them. I'm actually a very organized person but when it came to homeschool records, I lost it. Literally... on the computer and in my files. I have no psychological reason behind this because I enjoyed homeschooling, I just didn't enjoy documenting it. As I mentioned before, I wish I had done more documentation and not only for college purposes but to have more to remind me of the fun we had (as well as hard work).

Well... I was resting after dinner when said husband handed me a file which contained the transcript I had (supposedly) lost as well as all of Christopher's community college class records. I had not lost them. I had not been GIVEN them in the first place. However, it is easy to forgive when one has just cut your work load in half (and the worst half at that). Hallelujah!

Tomorrow I will be pulling out books from all sorts of hiding places to make long lists. Hopefully they will be dazzled by all that reading enough to overcome any prejudice against our lack of textbook use in subjects such as History. I think having fencing as his Phys Ed for two years should raise some eyebrows, too. Not to mention Asian studies and Worldview courses. That's why I'm going to give them an Appendix to the transcript with titles of books read... I'm impressed and I want "the person who won't accept five semesters of classes at the college as transcripts enough thank you very much" to be impressed.

There is still some attitude in there, isn't there?

I can't blame coming off of the pain pills. I'm still in pain but only Migraine Strength Excedrin pain and not "give me the hard stuff" pain of earlier. There is one more antibiotic to be taken before bedtime... only one. That is a very good thing.

I don't think I mentioned that five year old David is also going through a regime of antibiotics and has an abscessed area around his two front baby teeth. He will have them removed next week. I keep telling his mother to give him hugs and tell him Grammie oh so understands what he is going through.

So for this evening, I am not reading any more blogs or e-mails. The computer will be shut down for the day. I am taking a few magazines, a cup of tea, a book, and reading glasses to my room while the already mentioned husband watches the White Sox playing on TV. Christopher is spending most of the evening with two of his best friends (Sheila's boys) before one of the twins return to college at Northwestern (the other twin attends the University) so he won't be home until late.

A good night to spend in the company of tea, lots of good stuff to read, and a cat...

Hallejulah that the lost is found AND that you didn't lose it in the first place...that's fantastic!

Brenda, the strangest thing is going on in Blogdom. I can't get to my own blog..."Internet can not open this site" and I can't get to many on my favorites list, but I was able to visit you. Thank goodness that someplace is letting me in. ;>

How I relate and appreciate your issues with the transcript! As a "graduated" homeschool mom, I have been there. Our older son was killed while his younger siblings were still in high school. Record-keeping became rather non-existent at that point. When younger son tried to enroll in a persnickety college, things got crazy in a hurry. I couldn't even remember half of his high school days because of what we had been going through at the time. God intervened, and son was accepted, but it was a very stressful process.

Hope you are feeling good as new very soon, and that the college entry process will soon be behind you. {{hugs}}

Thank you for the encouragment to keep all that homeschool paperwork that I considered clutter until recently. While my children are still very young - 5 and 7 - I have already lost two years of school memories :(, but thanks to your perspective, I plan to keep some of each year preserved to cherish once my time as a homeschooling momma is done. I pray that your mouth feels better and the transcript saga ends well and soon!Praying for little David too!

Vee, if you read this - it is site meter. It's causing issues all over blogdom. Just remove it and your problem should be solved.

Transcripts, dear friend you have my sympathies. I am so glad I do not have anymore to do. I am glad you now have all the papers to do it.

Hope little David is feeling well soon- they bounce back better than we do. Linda
