I'm enjoying my new play list. Remember, if you don't want the music then click on the "tab" with the two vertical lines and it will turn off the sound. I now have fifteen or twenty of my favorite songs... almost as good as owning an mp3 player. :)
I have another one of those crazy busy weeks coming up as I work full time at the bookstore (it is very hard to believe the semester is over) as well as getting in some lawn work. After three days of summer like weather, we awoke to a gorgeous coolness this morning. My husband emptied bags of mulch into the wheel barrow for me so I could do some weeding and mulching... that sounds like a cow chewing cud for some reason... I digress. It was such a beautiful day with a cool breeze and the aroma of woodsmoke in the air, the outdoor chores were fun. Especially done just a little at a time and then resting.
He was out early to spread weed killer after last night's rain. I find it interesting that the same "flowers" we oooh and awww over as we drive home from town suddenly become "weeds" when they are on our lawn.
I knew I had a lot to do today so I took advantage of being alone on Friday to rest... a calm before the storm, so to speak... while Christopher was at work and my hubby and brother-in-law traveled to their hometown to help their sister with finances. Once I got the basic housework finished and did a little grocery shopping, I baked some cookies for John to take home with him and took some of these out of the freezer to include on his "goodie plate".
I picked up Christopher from work and we decided to eat an inexpensive fast food meal since it was just the two of us. That meant I didn't have to do dishes, which made it possible for me to read "my mail" and enjoy a quiet evening. Yes, all three of these arrived in today's mail.
I LOVE magazines! Victoria is a Christmas gift from hubby, Southern Living was also a gift from him when they had a really cheap offer, and the Cottage Living is a brand new gift from Joanna (THANK YOU!)... who has been with me here almost from the first post. :)
It was so nice not to have to cook or clean last night. I enjoy cooking and I love a house that is shiny and clean... but I also enjoy evenings off. :) I stretched out on my bed to look at pretty houses and gardens, check for new recipes to try, and take delight in every page of Victoria. I absolutely LOVED their interview with Jan Karon.
My husband and his brother arrived back for John to pick up the "goodie plate" and some family papers we had found when going through boxes. We think he made it home before the big storms came through. He lives about an hour away. I love the sound of thunderstorms when there is no chance of tornadoes. Sasha, however, did not...
I am now off to make tea for the three of us. It has been wonderful having Christopher home in the evenings this week as his study load was a little lighter. That will change next week as begins to study for finals! I think they would love a nice cup of tea... hot tea while it remains cool. I'm sure the heat will return soon enough.

Well, I'm pouting. Every single piece of mail we received today was junk mial. You, on the other hand, received three beautiful magazines!!! Wow! Happy reading and get plenty of rest tomorrow before the busy week ahead.
Hi Brenda - it's been so long since I had time to comment on your blog - we've had a season of illness around here, but are recovering now, thankfully. I envy you your pleasant mail selection - just coupons, advertisements and bills around here! We also awakened to cooler weather - I went outside and painted a wooden swing that was given to us in great need of TLC,perfect for painting since it was such a breezy sunny afternoon. The sun was intense, but I was not too warm - the perfect kind of day. It is so good to stop in again and see what you are up to! Blessings!

Sometimes I get so busy and preoccupied, so it was good to read your blog this morning. It had a very calming effect on me! Thank you!
The books came yesterday and so were delivered to my son who thought, because of the forewords, that I had heard about them elsewhere. Ha! I told him that I was going on the word of a dear blogger and then I told him that you had said that the first one was a bit slow at times, but to hang in because things pick up.
Yardwork is being done slowly here, too, because, otherwise, I'd have pulled muscles and a sore back, but so far so good. It's the only way to go! Slow that is...
Now I want to read that Jan Karon interview...must get a Victoria!
I LOVE Victoria Magazine!I was so happy when they brought it back.Mine arrived recently too!Blessings~Sharon
We are having chilly weather after hot weather.. :/ this spring seems unable to make up it's mind! I love those magazines.I also love Victorian Homes but had to let my subscription go this year. :(
Remember. Triage everything you think you have to do, this week. And take TLC of Brenda.
'Cause, who will do all of Brenda's things, if Brenda lets herself go "down in a heap"?
Enough... *Old Aunt Tilly* will stop now. ,-))))

Nice mail day! I really like magazines too and one of my favorite things to do is to go to Barnes and Noble and get a coffee and sit down and look at all the magzines for and hour or so. Nice quiet "me" time!

I'm glad Cottage Living arrived-it always makes my day when my copy arrives in the mail.
By the way, that's my cottage on the cover. What...you don't believe me?!
joanna :)
Those are three great magazines. I sometimes read the other two, but I always read Southern Living.
Check your local library mine has Southern Living and Cottage Living. I borrow them all the time or read them at the library. My library also gives away all magazines over 6 months old they set them on a table for people to take. Also check local thrift stores many have magazines for sale I like to save the magazines to read when that month comes again like now I am reading magazines from May 07, 06, 05 etc. I also like to set some of the summer one in a basket on my front porch. I frequently get boxes of magazines for free from a church run Clothes Closet. You could also save yours and swap with friends.
Cottage Living is my favorite magazine. I keep watching for a special subscription deal but have not found just the right one yet.
