A Spring give-away!

Another heavy snow storm/blizzard was coming our way but it looks like the worst of it MISSED us. Hallelujah! The meteorologist said there has now been seventeen storm systems come up through our part of the Midwest since January 1st. Which explains why my head has ached so much... yikes.

Let's just say I am tired of having to shovel snow and drive my car as if I were one hundred years old with really thick glasses. Hehehe, as it is I got behind a very slow and very senior citizen at the grocery store today. The cashier kept looking at me with an apology in her eyes. When the little old lady was out of hearing range, I told the cashier I didn't mind waiting at all. I'm getting slower and a little more dense with every year!

I am thrilled to be able to offer you this book for a Spring give-away. The nice people who give us Victoria Magazine sent me this to review a few months ago. I told them at the time that I wanted to wait until early March. What makes Flowers especially unique is the way the author has separated the chapters by COLOR! It covers more than flowers, too. For instance, the chapter "Orange" also gives advice on using Persimmons and Bittersweet in flower arrangements.

If you love flowers in general and arranging them in all kinds of containers, you will love curling up in a comfy chair with a glass of iced tea (assuming we have warm weather soon)... or perhaps outside on your porch with a cup of morning coffee... and finding inspiration for using your beloved flowers.

I'm going to also include my copy of Mrs. Whaley and Her Charleston Garden for added inspiration. This is such a charming book and if you enjoy gardening, you'll find excellent advice from Mrs. Whaley and her gardener-friend. I enjoyed it just as a good biography. I just may have to add a few packets of my favorite tea in with the package. :)

So... all you have to do is comment on this post. I'll leave it up until Monday afternoon (which will hopefully give me time to catch up on e-mails!).

A friend of mine recently recommended your blog. I think maybe the two of you were separated at birth, your loves are so similar. In fact she laoned me her copy of Mrs. Whaley's which I adored. I would've loved to have met her wouldn't you? She was a hoot with her homemade blue dress. I appreciate your comments on simplicity. Your welcome to browse my blog if you like as well. I'd love the copy of Mrs.Whaley. I really enjoyed your book sale shopping post. I used to live in an area that had wonderful sales for $1 a pound, and then there is the issue of shelves,....

Brenda, I would love to have the books and the tea. I would feel like we were sitting together sharing. We are around the same age, actually I'm a little older. I so enjoy reading your blog. I love to read about your shopping adventures. I loved the pictures of your dishes. If you pick me I will be especially grateful. Reading is one of my most favorite things and knowing it would be from you would be so special.

The cover of that flower book looks gorgeous!! I love just about any book that Victoria and co. has put together. They do such a wonderful job. I do think it is about time that Spring showed up here in the Midwest. I was also thankful that our "winter storm" didn't turn into that much snow afterall.

Glad that the most recent storm zipped on by. I was under the impression that it would be stormy all weekend here, too, but I awoke to sunshine.

I'd love to be considered for your most generous giveaway.

Brenda,

I would love to be in your give-away for those two delightful books! I am so anxious to get into my garden but here in Colorado it is wise to wait until Mother's Day to plant your garden.

I just love your blog!

Looks like the books have the potential to be best sellers. We hada little snow last night. It looked pretty outside this morning. I'm hoping you'll peruse my blog and see if you like it. I'm a grandma too, on the younger side but being a grandma is a great role in life; to finally have credibility!

My flower garden needs reworking--this sounds fun. I have several herbs there, and few other plants that have not been doing well since I transplanted them into half shade. :-/ Perhaps I will pull them out and start another plot in full sun--my dd said she would like to do the veg garden this year, so maybe I'd have time :-).

Thanks for blogging-
Jean
