Scrapbook Journal Pictures

I've kept a "journal" of favorite pictures for many years, using an inexpensive scrapbook from Joanne's Fabrics. I can look through it and find such peace and inspiration. ADDED: I also started this journal after reading Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban Breathnach. I recommend the book "with reservations". She leans slightly into some New Age stuff in this book but it still has great ideas. I overlook the other "stuff". I've read her later books but I felt this one was by far the best (she seems to get more into Eastern Thought... if you know what I mean... with each book).

However, I just began using it as a journal (Jewels' inspiration) and found it didn't work as well for writing. Yesterday I purchased an artist's sketchbook to use as the combination journal-scrapbook since it will work far better than my scrapbook I've been using. It lays flat which makes it easier to write in. I'll continue using the "old" scrapbook for favorite larger pictures, poetry, articles, etc..

I thought you might like a few pictures. The light wasn't the best but it will work. The first picture is of pages where I have left room for prose. You can see why I decided to go with the spiral bound notebook for this! The remaining pictures are from years past. :)

I love it!! I have posted a couple of pictures on my blog also of my journal! Wait until you start writing. I thought I wouldn't write that much but then the mind kept going and I have filled up the pages with the writing also!! Enjoy!

Reminds me of my version of an Illustrated Journal I started with Simple Abundance; I don't write much in it, but collect images, quotes, & such, that comfort or inspire. A few years ago, my father sent me my Grandmother's diaries, started in the 30's, & she had a book of images & quotes; it's wonderful to know that I'm carrying on a tradition (she died long before I was born- 1949- & I was named for her)

Thanks for sharing about this, Brenda! I keep a picture journal, too, and it is such a blessing. It is also a marvelous source of encouragement. Love to you! Q

It was fun to see pictures of your journal! I wonder how many of us made them/re-worked them after Jewels showed us hers!

An artist's sketchbook that lays flat ... whodathunkit! I'll have to visit Michaels and see what I can find. Thank you so much for the tip.

I miss visiting Eyes of Wonder but am sweetly reminded of many posts, but most especially her journal.

Bless you...

What beautiful pictures! I was also inspired by Jewels. Once you put those pictures in, you become quite inspired to write all the time.
Thanks for sharing.
Blessings,
Maria

It's cute to take a peek into your scrapbook.

I've kept pics which I loved and cut out of magazines. But not in a scrapbook. Just clipped together. It's quite interesting to come across them, a few years later.

I guess I've changed somewhat, in what I resonate with. Yes, I still like "the pinks." But now, I tend more to deeper shades of warm colors. And I no longer resonate with certain accompaniment {to pink} colors. Maybe I've zeroed in more, on what I really like, over the years... Who knows?

But it is fun to find them and look at them and see how they strike me now.

Of course, reading your entry and comments here, makes me wish I'd done more of a journaling nature. Though I've wanted to along the way, I've never done it. The "why" of this, is an interesting pondering... :-)

Thank-you for sharing your special pages! I have this book, too, and due to the New Age insertions, I proceed cautiously. I have a number of books that expound on some great ideas but include a spiritual aspect that I don't subscribe to. Unless the book is blatantly against my beliefs, I just treat it like a garden. I keep the flowers and toss the weeds. There is much to glean, however... I can see that you took wing!

Best Blessings,
KJ

Neat idea. I'd like to do that too --- right now I use notebooks with page protector sheets and just stick all kinds of things in them by notebook theme. My lavender notebook is stuffed to the gills!

I thought of Jewels as soon as I saw the journal photos! I think we'll all miss her Godly wisdom- she was a real Titus 2 woman to me through her writings. I praise the Lord for older Christian woman who use the net to encourage those not as confident in our homemaking.
