Sabine's give away

Sabine is having a give away on her blog called Sunshine and Shadow.

It is in honor of National Invisible Chronic Illness Awareness Week. She is giving away two books and a homemade pillowcase (the fabrics look lovely!).

I know there are readers of Coffee Tea Books & Me that either have a chronic illness or know someone who lives with one. Head on over to Sabine's blog, leave a comment, and you will be in the running to receive her gifts.

I love the title of one of the books, it starts with "But You Look Good...". :)

I get that all the time. Even my family forgets I have a chronic illness until the fatigue becomes a very real issue... or I end up in intensive care again (that was a real eye opener)!

Do click on the name of Sabine's blog above to be taken to the post about her give away.

I noticed that when you have a serious or chronic illness people expect you to look sick or tired all the time! It happened all the time with my mother when she had cancer. The more serious her illness got, the more beautiful she became. Part of it was the smile she always had and the joy she found in the Lord. Even in the weeks before her death, people were still commenting on how beautiful she looked. She was never depressed or showed her pain.

I look forward to checking in with you often and am glad to see that your illness doesn't hold you back from enjoying God's gifts. You are an encouragement to all who struggle with a chronic illness.

Hugs,
Jenn

I agree with Jenn; "You are an encouragement to all who struggle with a chronic illness."

Thanks for helping!

Thanks for sharing this! I went to have a look. The titles of those books are terrific! I get that comment ALL the time "But you look good..." And, it would be so wonderful to have suggestions for people when they ask "how can I help" although I must say casseroles right now are a HUGE help!

Hi Brenda! This is such a timely post for me - I also hear 'but you look good ...' too often! I sometimes think I SHOULD wear yellow on the days my jaundice is noticeable - but I'm afraid I'd scare a few folks! Also, it is depressing to hear 'you look so tired', so I guess if I had to choose, I'd rather 'you look good'!
