Ponderings on a Wednesday afternoon

I was hoping to get a tea party picture posted today. It hasn't happened but it will... soon!

I think my season of being very, very busy is now past for awhile. Christopher has settled into three classes and one science lab at the junior college so there are only three classes left here at home. My husband is continuing to teach his Latin and I'm putting together a music appreciation class. He's also continuing Russian Literature from last semester because, well... those Russian novels are huge! :)

Stephanie has begun "officially" homeschooling this year (as in reporting her curriculum to the local school officials) even though she has been working on reading basics for awhile. She is taking part in her local homeschool co-op and teaching an art class (since she automatically minored in art when majoring in Interior Design at college).

Gosh, when I first began homeschooling Christopher in second grade, he was only one year older than my oldest grandchild is now. My friends, tempus does fugit. I wish they lived closer so this Grammie could take a closer part in their schooling. However, I will get creative and find some way to be involved. Of course, I am always on the lookout for books.

Speaking of which, I have received quite a stack of books from publishers to review. I'll be posting one review in the morning and the remainder as I get them read. All are very interesting so this is one "job" that I enjoy. Since our blog friend at Seasonal Soundings is now teaching full time, she is too busy to continue with the seasonal reading challenges (and I understand completely!). So... I've posted on the side bar those books I'm reading now and those that are "waiting in the basket".

As for a challenge, I'm going to take part in Sherry's and I'll get the details of that posted soon. I figure I can handle six books between now and January.

In the weeks to come, I'm also planning on a return to some tea time posts and I'm certain there will be some more waxing poetic about pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks.

I welcome all the new readers of Coffee Tea Books and Me. I am so honored to be on the Blogroll of both Sally and Sarah Clarkson! I adore both this mother and daughter (not to mention I'm a great admirer of both of them as authors) and someday I hope to meet them in person. If not here, then in one of the perfectly beautiful tea rooms that await us Someday. Anyhoo, I know there are new readers who have told me they have come from a Clarkson blog. :)

I have been going through my e-mails and trying to get caught up. If you haven't heard from me, please write again. For some reason, there were perfectly good e-mails being sent to the "Junk" folder (yikes!). So, yours may have been devoured by that folder before I found out what was happening. Such is technology...

I too gave books to our homeschooling daughter when we moved and also when we had to close our Christian School. I too wish I could be closer to help her, she works part time and is a Pastor's wife, but there is about 700+ miles between us. I do hope to see more tea posts.

Brenda, I am going to make you a promise-before the autumn is over, I am going to try a pumpkin spice latte in your honor. I will sacrifice having a macchiatto (sp?) for your pumpkin spice.
I'll let you know what I think.

I uh "encouraged" my friend Linda to try one.

I think she is now hooked, too.

Your daughter home-schooling, with all she has to do already. She must be an amazing woman!

You sound busy too! I wish I could "talk" Russian Lit. with your husband...I just finished 'Crime and Punishment' this summer for the first time and I didn't want to put it down!
My home has always been my sanctuary and I have been too busy lately...I am known as a "homebody"...wish we could "talk" sometime!

A grammie note (I'm not one yet, but I've been a homeschool mom nearly as long as you have --- hmmmm, 16 years or so). Anyway, I just wanted to encourage you to be a hands-on 'homeschool grammie'. How special that you have grandies so you don't have to give up the role yet! Online instruction, puzzles and unit studies through the mail, oh --- there's so much you can do. I know you'll enjoy your role very much! Have fun!
