I feel so "out of it"

It would seem the month of August passed me by completely! Perhaps it is because I've been working at the bookstore now for three weeks and completely out of my "normal" life.

Thankfully, that will end soon when I work Labor Day (Monday) and then only for special football discount days. These are special days when there is a sale because the University won big (for each touchdown, a percentage is taken off all clothing with the school insignia).

My three weeks were well worth the relief the income brought to our rather stretched resources. Since I qualified for a discount, I purchased a couple pastel colored spiral notebooks and pretty pens which I sent to my daughter (if I remember, one pen had pink ink and the other a pretty green).

Today I bought a pink spiral notebook for me, along with the same two pens. I'll keep the notebook in my purse for those times I want to write a letter when I'm having a "coffee and scone" time out... just to think and ponder.

Since the store was nearly empty today (most of the students went home for the three day Holiday weekend), I wrote a long letter with the "pretty green" ink as well as writing out a grocery list. There is also something about pink ink that makes a "to do" list special, too! :)

Speaking of scones, if the Starbucks nearest you has the cranberry scone... yum! It is delicious. I tried one last week on the way to work. I'm looking forward to a more relaxed visit later this week. My husband gave me the usual $20.00 allowance yesterday and it is all going on the Starbucks card. I can't think of a better mini vacation when my brain is rattled or the stress level is rising than a Grande' Pumpkin Spice Latte (along with a scone if I'm feeling rich).

I can't wait to chat again about books and tea and books and coffee and books and... books. Cooler weather is beginning to peek through once in awhile, bringing with it a return to long afternoons in the kitchen as well as cozy evenings on the sofa with a book.

I still feel the pain and emptiness from the loss of my furry best friend. It won't be quite the same without her kneading and finding a comfortable spot to sit on my flannel housecoat. Only then could I finally begin to pay attention to the words before me.

Her sister likes to hop on the sofa but only to get some itchies behind the ear before finding a comfortable chair in which to nap once again. She is definitely Christopher's cat!

Now my friends, I am off to brew some tea and read a bit. I am well satisfied in my work but also quite weary. Tomorrow will definitely be a day of rest with perhaps one load of laundry being accomplished after church.

If I must put blinders on, I will do so to rest all day. Come Tuesday, there will be time for grocery shopping, housework, laundry, and all the other gotta do's that keep a home running smoothly. This evening was made for tea and a book...

Thanks to you, I am not getting any work done around here. I am reading "The Thirteenth Tale" due to your recommendation. Thanks a lot for getting me into this mess. It's so hard to put it down! I need some sleep...

Seriously, it is a wonderful book and I wouldn't have known about it if I hadn't read your blog. I'm sorry you are missing your little furry friend so. I hope you get a good rest and enjoy the fruits of your labours. Are you still getting a small upright freezer? We bought one last year and it is a pleasure to use.

I hope you had a restful evening and will get some much needed rest today. You certainly deserve it. I will have to try the scones you mentioned. Have a blessed week ahead.
