Conversations

I'm blessed with a great relationship with both my kids (and my son-in-law). Although, both my son and daughter have accused me of performing a Vulcan mind meld on them as infants (you know, as in Spock...the Star Trek guy, not the child care "expert").

The guys and I were talking about the subject of giftedness this morning. It reminded me of a conversation I had with my daughter when she was visiting. I had been showing her some homeschooling books she could take with her when I told her I had The Gift of Music. "No you don't", said she. "Yes, I do" said I (holding up the book). "Believe me Mom, you do not have the gift of music" said the lippy young woman.

I may be a little slow but I realized the comment was regarding my singing abilities...or lack thereof...so much for rising up and calling me blessed. :)

The Gift of Music. Maybe you should do as I do. On the children's birthday I like to call them and leave a message on their answering machine. The message is my singing them "We wish you a happy birthday". And me with a tracheostomy. I couldn't carry a tune before the tracheostomy and the ventilator.

Now that is something I can threaten her with!

LOL!!! Having a grown daughter who laughs WITH you is indeed on par with her rising up and calling you blessed! I love laughing with my grown girls....even when we're laughing at me!
