Sunday Hymns & Songs

Great Is Thy Faithfulness

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;

Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;

As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.

All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;

reat is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness

To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth

Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;

Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,

Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!

Morning by morning new mercies I see.

All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;

Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Brenda - you always pick my favorite hymns for Sunday! I remember my Poppa David singing this in his deep rich baratone as he worked around the garden, and I picked berries or cucumbers or whatever was on hand to be picked. I used this hymn to calm an extremely croupy baby (and if the truth be told, her very panic stricken mother - me!)- as I prayed for morning light when the croup seemed to cease and all was well again. He is indeed faithful!
I so enjoy reading your blog - I sometimes think you and I have travelled many of the same roads but just at different times!

When we were going through some heavy duty trials, I used to keep this song in my mond constantly.

One of my favorite scriptures is "his mercies are new every morning". I would always feel I had renewed strength to carry on each morning.

I've been humming 'the steadfast love of the Lord never changes ... it's new every morning, new every morning, great is Thy faithfulness, Oh Lord, great is Thy faithfulness ..."
