So, Brenda...aren't you, uh...rushing the seasons a bit? We're talking about Autumn and you are blogging about...Christmas?Okay, I do love the Christmas season and I figure if I use this picture now, I'll get a chance to use it again later...but that 's not the reason I'm talking about a Christmas tea in October.
I was going through some of my files over the weekend, looking for a particular article (which I never found). However, I did come across a charming Southern Living article about a Christmas Cookie Tea that a group of friends had each year for their daughters and themselves. They combine it with a cookie exchange. I've had a cookie exchange before (and absolutely loved it) but I never thought of combining it with a Christmas Tea.
The pictures were adorable, the little girls were all dressed up in their finest dresses, their hair curled and put in ribbons. The article said they look forward to this Tea throughout the year. Judging from the date of the article, I'd say they are my daughter's age now. No wonder I'd cut this out and tucked it away. I expect many of these little girls are now mothers of wee children themselves.
So I thought I'd send out this lovely idea while the trees are still orange and gold, before the turkey is put on the table, and the frost is on the pumpkin. Time has a way of moving quickly once November is here. There is still time to think of a guest list, pretty dresses, cookies (whether one has a cookie exchange or just lovely cookies served with tea and punch), and making memories with daughters or friends, mothers or aunts, perhaps even a grammie or two invited to a Christmas Cookie Tea.

Our women's ministry has a Christmas Cookie Exchange (hosted here) every year. It is great fun. I'd never thought of making it a tea but I love the idea! I don't know if the other ladies will like it, but I will definitely find out. Thanks=)
I love the idea and love the picture, too. Christmas is my favourite time of year and I usually have to hold myself back from decorating the house before December 1st. :o)
I love this idea! I often host our homeschool group for a cooking baking day - they bring a pound of butter and I supply the recipes tools and remaining ingredients. We have fun and the kids each take 2 dozen cookies home. Those who are not baking take turns decorating shirt boxes to give as gifts. We serve milk and they can eat as many cookies as they like! the girls have fun but the boys get pretty wild. It is hectic and fun, but I like the mother, grammy, daughter tea idea too - a bit, ahem! more civilized and a few less sprinkles on the floor!
Oh, I love this idea!! My girls are the perfect age and they have a few friends that would really enjoy this!! Thank you so much for sharing the idea.
