One thing about blogging for over twelve years, you all figure out when I'm not feeling well. I wasn't feeling well on Saturday but I had errands (like my monthly stock up grocery shopping) that needed to be accomplished on the first day it was decent enough to drive. I think I pushed it a little too much but like Mother Hubbard, the cupboard was getting bare...
By Sunday morning, I was really under the weather. Nothing horrible but I didn't feel well enough to do much of anything except keep propped up with a pillow and a throw, reading Pilgrim's Inn on the Kindle. I kept intending to write but my brain and body refused. There is nothing one can do when they gang up on you together.
Yesterday, it was time for the injection in my eyes again. That month always seems to go by quickly! So that took up part of the day and didn't help to make me feel any better. My eyes sting awhile after the injection, at least it wasn't a month that they had to take photos of the retina. Those numbing drops make me sleepy.
I did take advantage of being in that part of town to stop by Barnes & Noble before my appointment, enjoying a cup of coffee and reading The Heart of the Family on the Kindle. I told my husband that I felt a little guilty pulling out my Kindle in Nook territory... but just a little. ;)
I know some people don't care as much for The Heart of the Family as they do the first two books but I love it. It speaks to growing
older as well as family... and as all the trilogy does... the power of
our homes to replenish the soul.
I am feeling better today. Not perfectly well but better. I don't know if it was a mild virus or just literally being under the weather. We had a record low and a record high temperature in the same week. Our weatherman said, if you include the negative wind chill last week, it was a 90 degree swing in temperatures. Yikes, that isn't good for anyone.
I have homemade chicken noodle soup ready for dinner and the dishes are caught up. So after checking in with you, I am going to read more of the Eliot Trilogy. I will be sad when I finish, even though I have read the books multiple times.
I will be back tomorrow or Thursday to review a friend's new book. No, this time not the Clarksons! Although their new book, Girl's Club, is being launched today. I didn't have the time to take part in the launch of this book. I've heard it is quite good.

So glad that you are feeling better. I do always wonder when you don’t post on days when I’m expecting you. That 90° swing is crazy. We are on a swing just now, too. I had to shed my coat today. It may be enough to remind me that spring is definitely coming ; otherwise, it will just spoil me.
Chicken noodle soup sounds good and I have some in the freezer. Good idea. And I know exactly what you mean about tired brain as I had to give up writing a comment because I couldn’t think straight. I need to return to that blog and do better. ☺️
Praying for your continued good health and healing for your eyes.
The first Goudge I read was The Heart Of The Home. I loved it.
I’m glad you’re feeling better, praying for a full recovery!
Homemade chicken soup sounds comforting and delicious! Injections in ones eye do not. You are brave, Brenda! I'm praying for you, along with a host of others, I know! Be well! Spring is on the way, though we've got a bit of a road ahead before it's really here. I read a number of English blogs and have friends from the UK. Oh, the photos of the things blooming in their gardens already! But I love northeast Ohio even with its dubious weather! And nothing much on earth can beat our spring, at least in my eyes....(Even if it is a bit more work.) So rest and eat your chicken soup and read comforting books! Dean Street Press just published several more D.E. Stevensons (for kindle, too). And Alexander McCall Smith wrote the forward which they share. As I read it I smiled to realize what he was writing about her work applies to his as well. I just finished Spring Magic and it made me very happy!
You make everything sound so warm and cozy. I love that about you. I go back in April to see if the shot I get in my eye can be stopped. I sure hope so. I know how uncomfortable it is for one eye. I can't imagine for both. Do you get Eylea injections? That is what I get.

Glad you're back and doing ok. Hang in there ... spring is on the way -- I think. I live in AZ so my winter is probably like your spring. It's chilly in the 60's and windy here today but the sun is shining as it loves to do in Lake Havasu -- and that makes everything better.
Hope things even out for you soon, Brenda!! We are under a bit of siege here too. Tis the season I guess...and it is too cold out anyway. Yep, good ole Chicken soup...to all else in it, add plenty of garlic and BROCCOLI...yep those 2 powerhouses work wonders!! I learned that "by accident" a few years back!! Gonna make us some in the morning for the next couple days!!
