The NIV Woman's Study Bible, a review

This Study Bible is not the usual kind with mainly cross references and word studies.  Instead it is one that offers many different reading options.  From the text of the NIV translation of the Bible (with a decent size font), to maps, to bottom notes throughout, to an indepth Index, it would be a good reference Bible.

However, this full color edition is designed for women and it is full of embedded information about the various women of the Bible, scripture as it pertains to women, teaching principles, and quotes from well known Christian women.

It is the kind of Bible women will appreciate who like to keep one available to read through when time permits, the extra teachings and information was very informative.  I personally would not use it as my primary Bible for I would find the additions interesting but distracting.  However, that may not be a problem for others.

I received a regular hardback copy of this Bible to review and it's okay.  It doesn't have the beauty of The NKJV Woman's Study Bible with the lovely floral cover and rose colored binding.  However, this would be fine for anyone who prefers a sturdy hardback.

The NIV Woman's Study Bible was provided by the publisher for the sake of review but the opinions are my own.

My daughter bought a She Reads Truth Bible from Amazon in December and told me about it during their $ off books, so I ordered one. While not a study Bible (Christian Standard), it is one of my favorite Bibles for reading and the devotions are not 'fluff' but amazingly thought provoking. I still use my MacArthur Study Bible and have never found more thorough notes. However, for my daily Bible reading, I like to try a different version to make me think (and often compare it to my familiar one).

I like study Bibles for the times you think, "Why did they do that?" Then you can look up notes about the cuture or traditions of the time.
