Still under the weather

Apparently this virus that has been going around is reacting about the same in everyone.  I had one day of being really sick and since then there have been days of feeling slightly queasy and too fatigued to do just about anything.  Not terrible but neither do I feel well enough to do anything requiring more energy than stirring a pot or washing dishes.

I blame the roller coaster weather and the time spent in the reception area of the doctor's office when I was there for my three month A1C checkup.  Speaking of which, they can now get a three month reading with a simple blood draw about the same size as when one checks their blood sugar at home!  Until recently, I would have to wait three months to know the readings.

We are in the deep freeze side of roller coaster weather today.  There was a layer of ice under the snow when I walked out to get our newspaper.  But with the drop in temps came a beautiful snowfall.  I couldn't help help looking out the window during the snowfall yesterday and this morning while the snow clung to the trees.

I find snowfall to be beautiful when there is no need to drive the slick roads.  We have had rain since Christmas and very few snowflakes.  Which is also why people are sick. Yesterday's snow was a delight.  Yes, I had to take a photo of my neighbor's barn this morning.  What a blessing to have it be what I see from my front porch, although this photo was taken from the road while I also kept an eye on the pickup truck in the distance.

I'm hoping to be here on Saturday so I'm off to brew a small teapot full of herbal tea to stay hydrated.

I hope you are well soon; is the treatment for your flu / virus mainly resting and staying hydrated? Snow is pretty when you can stay home and enjoy the whiteness and not have to drive.

Kitty cuddle and hot tea time for you until you're feeling back to normal. Take care.

Well, I'm glad you are on the mend. I find that if we can avoid the doctor's office we often avoid sickness!

I do love that red barn!

I hope you feel much better soon.
I've had a hacking cough for the last 10 days. Yesterday my husband arranged for the doctor to call.
I was given some antibiotics. They're rarely prescribed nowadays.
Like you, I'm so very tired and I'm finding it frustrating and exhausting.
We live in the mildest part of the U.K. and we've had temperatures of about 8-12 degrees Celsius. Perhaps it hasn't been cold enough to kill off the sickness bugs.

The barn scene is beautiful! I am under the weather too. I went to the doctor today and I have an upper respiratory infection. Meds in hand and told to stay hydrated with clear fluids.

That's good advice about staying out of the doctor's office. I never go to the movies in winter and I try to stay away from public places. I also use the wipes...perhaps one of the few to wipe down the cart. Yes, I am a germaphobe. Also good to know about the blood test...must remember to ask my sister about that.

Stay as cozy as you can, sip copious amounts of tea, make some delish chicken noodle soup. If I lived down the street, I'd be bringing you a batch. In fact, I'm sending you a link to my favorite recipe.

Dear Brenda, rest, drink chicken soup, read or listen to those things which relax and inspire at the same time. Our new favorite tea for colds is Yogi Lemon Ginger. We've had that beautiful snow fall, too. Everything is still fluffy and white looking. I love it because I am here in my cozy home.

Finally! I've caught up from reading YEARS of your blog over the last week, to here where I can leave a comment. So many times I've wanted to say, "Thanks for what you wrote." and couldn't. (One I must still say thanks for is your new love song. I've saved it to share with my farmer on our 37th anniversary in Sept.)
Today I had to do a drug screen for a new job and had to go to the clinic. Germaphobe that I am, I was cringing and wanting to ask for wipes and gloves. On my way out I used the sanitizer 3 times and once more in my car. Then at a friend's office. Then at the local grocery to wipe down the cart & my purse straps but didn't feel truly clean until I got home and could wash my hands very well with my hot water and soap. I dread going to the city 3 times in the next 3 days. Here on the farm, the cats and cows are healthy and don't share germs.
Again, thank you for writing your blog and sharing your life through your words & photos.

Sorry to hear this, Brenda...do take care. I fell ill with the same bug I guess, in early January...still having a sinus problem that is robbing me of energy!! What I thought was a cold, obviously was more. Those of us with chronic health issues need to take extra care if we can (and we moved 2 hours south in the midst of all this...but what is in motion must continue in such things)...hubby's cousin lost his wife who also had MS...this bug was just more than her body could handle, plus her body rejected all antibiotics which might have helped. So be extra careful...rest extra, etc!!
