The Walking Trail in mid-October

When I went for a walk in early Spring, I had no idea that it would be October when I walked the trail again.  Not only was this a wet summer but my favorite part of the trail was closed for construction.

A new subdivision is going up between the trail and where Mr. & Mrs. Christopher live.  With all the heavy (and quite large) construction equipment in the area, they deemed it necessary to put up not only signs but fences to keep one off the trail.

Mr. & Mrs. C were happy when it opened again as it is the best kind of place to walk a dog.  It is also my favorite place to just walk, canine companion or not.  Hmmm... I would love to see Victoria with a collar and leash... but I digress.

Of course, since I had to stop and take photos and breath in the wonderful musty smell of October in the Midwest, I can't say there was any aerobic work accomplished.  But my soul felt better.

Here are some photos from that walk.

This bench is one of my Happy Places.  When the weather is beautiful as it was today, I keep listening to the music on the itty bitty iPod and just... sit.   It is where I catch my breath before driving home.

The leaves out our way are just beginning to go into full color mode.  Now if one were to drive a mile or two further into town, many of those trees are in full color.  It is always like that.  Every year.

Yes, it has to be pleasing to have a well loved trail open for walking again. It looks like a beautiful place and I hope that you have some glorious autumn days to enjoy more photo taking. I did notice the kitty also taking a walk.

Ha! We have a neighbor that walks her cat around the block with her...no leash. She walks and is constantly telling the cat to "keep up"! Lovely place for your walk, glad you were able to get out and enjoy it.

Beautiful photos! I also have my own special walking path, and I'm anxious to get there soon, since it has been a while. And it's most special to me in autumn. I think. Or maybe in spring. Then again, summer is pretty spectacular there too... ;-) From your pictures, it looks like your trees are taking their own sweet time to arrive, just like it is here in Louisville. There's still so much green! As I grow impatient waiting for the bursts of color, I'm trying to remind myself that in March, I'll be practically desperate for ANY leaves on the trees, and that I should just enjoy the fact that I'm not looking at bare branches. Of course, those have their own beauty...for a while. Okay, somehow I've really wandered in this comment. I'm sorry! Maybe someone switched my decaf for caffeinated coffee this morning...?

Beautiful photos. We don't get much turning of the colors here in Florida. We did take a wonderful trip to Tennessee and North Carolina a few years ago in the fall. Love that beauty! I love the photo of the cat!

I'm not a huge fan of the great out doors other from my patio, but your pictures were so enjoyable. Thank-you once again for sharing, you always take such nice photos.

October is the sweet month, in my humble opinion. The colors everywhere are a combination of mellow and intense. Your pics are lovely and give me a good sense of your place. I like the small beauties you noticed on the trail. thank you for taking that walk!
