Feeling a little better...
Sending out an update so you know I'm alive and recovering! I had my doubts on Sunday as a simple flu/cold turned into an infection that brought on a lot of pain in my head. It is one of those things that happen when one has been a Type 1 diabetic for a long time. I think I picked up the original bug while waiting in a room of sickies for my three month doctor's appointment. The irony of it all.
We finally returned to modern times on Monday with the arrival of indoor plumbing! Yeah! Which made it necessary to prop myself up against the sink and do dishes. Just because I could.
Last night I roasted a chicken and as it cooled, roasted a sheet pan of various veggies I had purchased on clearance as their Use By date was up. So they really needed to be cooked by last night! It was nice cooking with chicken again. Because I could since there was running water and I could wash my hands a lot.
As I type, the chicken (minus all the white meat and some of the dark meat) is simmering away in the small stockpot, along with its' "stuffing" of carrots and onions. Excuse me, I just realized I forgot to add a couple whole garlic cloves to help in recovering.
I'm back. One of the reasons I love to make soup is that it can be put together early with all the serving dishes washed ahead of dinner. That is especially helpful when you still feel as though a truck hit you.
The remnant of Hurricane Patricia brought wind and rain the past two days. Which meant a lot of leaves made their way to the ground. My husband tells me there are still beautiful leaves in town, where they are more sheltered from the wind. I have to get out tomorrow, anyway... will take my camera just in case.
There are so many things I want to do such as answer emails and add a couple recipes to that "blog" (which is really a place I park family recipes and those I talk about here). I had taken a short break from reviewing books but now there are three in the process of reading. I need to write one of those reviews tomorrow or Friday.
I think I'll be able to do Saturday and Sunday posts. Hopefully. Prayerfully.

That is good to hear you are feeling a lot better, and cooking chicken and veggies now that the water is back on.
Ahhhh, yes, the irony of it all! So glad that you are feeling better! And happy, happy, joyful YAY that you folks have running water again. I can only imagine the sheer joy of it. I like your little "bouquet" of leaves and I hope that you and Mr. Coffee... get to enjoy a leaf-peeping drive soon before they are gone.
So glad you are feeling better. I have missed you and prayed for you. Great that you have water again. Such a blessing to have that wonderful convenience. Hope each day you are feeling stronger and are able to enjoy your daily routine. Blessings, Sharon D.
Glad you're healing AND that indoor plumbing is back for you, too!

Glad you are feeling better- and yes yes, soup is comforting for sure!
Get back to yourself soon. Feel better and better!
So glad you are beginning to feel better AND you have running water again!! What a difference that must make! Mmmmm....chicken soup sounds yummy and is good for what ails you! Love your Fall leaves photo! Looking forward to seeing more! Take care!
Hugs and Blessings,

This was the blog equivalent of comfort food. Loved it! I suddenly have the urge to cook with garlic.
Glad you are feeling better!
I'm glad you have your indoor plumbing going again and are feeling a bit better. :)
Glad to read that you are on the mend. God bless!

Happy to hear you are on the mend. The flu is awful! You were missed:)
Glad you're doing better. We had rain and wind from Patricia as well here in Florida. Also, we are experiencing "red tide". Organisms in the gulf die and turn the water a reddish color, and the result is respiratory problems. I am not going out or opening windows. Looking forward to your future posts.
So delighted to hear you have running water again! And pleased for you, that the flu has been short-lived - yummy soup is the best medicine!
I'm praying for your continued recovery, Brenda, and being really happy your plumbing issues are resolved! Soup - it's what's good for you! We've been having the far edge of Patricia, too, even in northeast Ohio. Yikes! But we have had a really, really beautiful autumn....
i am so glad that you are better and the plumbing has been restored!!!!! (MD)
Praising God you are feeling a bit better and that you have water!Your soup sounds wonderful! I wish we would get some cold weather so I could start making soup, too! Glad you are back writing.
Happy to hear that you have running water again, and happier still to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Glad you're feeling better. As you know, this is the time of year to stay away from the doctor's office and hospitals if at all possible -- just too much "stuff" out there to catch. Hopefully, this is all you will experience for the winter.
Thankful that you are feeling better and that you have running water again! Hurray!
It is crazy how you go in healthy to a doctors office and end up sick from being there!
We got tons of rain yesterday due to Patricia too! Glad it has moved on.

So glad you are better. I have to go to the doctor every three months because of Type2 diabetes and am always afraid that I will pick up a germ. Take care. Love, Marie
