Checking in...

I really am still here.  This time of year, it is difficult to find time for sitting in front of the computer... much less to even think about putting words together that make sense.

I had been working in the garden already and then Hubby had a crazy inspired idea to be able to increase the footprint of the garden without moving the fence we were building or having to build more raised beds.  There is neither the time nor the money to do either this year.

This is an experiment worth doing right now but it also added a lot of planning and work.  I hope to chat more about the garden on Saturday.  With photos if I can get to the store for new batteries!  (It seemed everything that used AA batteries needed them at once lately.)

Now for a quick lunch and return to the garden.  I was just telling my husband this morning about an article I read which had a theory why there are so many more allergies than there used to be.  They believed it was partly because people don't get their hands in the dirt enough!  Not a problem here lately

Maybe that is my problem. I have loads of allergies but have had them my entire life and I am 53!! LOL
For sure I need to garden if I want my yard to look pretty.

I believe there are benefits to getting ones hand in the dirt! I just "liked" the Robert Duncan page at Facebook.....His art is very pleasing and satisfying.

Sounds exciting! Look forward to seeing some photos of the new and improved garden. But if the weather is right, hop out there - the computer can wait!
It is winter here, so I am putting most of the garden to bed. Just planting out a few overwintering plants. Soon I will be ordering my bare-rooted plants though and some more rhubarb.

Keeping very busy I see! Hope that when you have the garden expanded and the fence issues resolved, you'll show us. Batteries! Always a problem in our house, too.

Dirty hands at the weekend? A very good idea indeed :D

We have been busy with visiting family, but we've been keeping up with our garden as well. We had tons of rain this week including one day of storms and pounding rain. The peonies didn't fare too well, but I have been able to cut them and bring them in, leaving some to go to seed, of course.

The weeds are always needing to be tamed, but we are keeping up with it okay. The strawberries are ripening and so very good. Such a wonderful seasonal treat!
