Soggy Tuesdays, iPads, and "Oops!"

I need one of those Lifestyle face lifts they advertise on TV!
So... I was going to put together a My World this Week but we've had rain for the past few days and I really don't like using a flash when possible.  This house is dark enough without rain, albeit much needed showers.

So I thought I'd share about my surprise birthday gift and a surprise I received in the kitchen on Sunday.  The photo is of my precious Hobbit (David) and me when I opened the gently used iPad my family bought me for my Birthday.

I thought the vacation was my gift (and it was enough!) but a few months ago Christopher's office was selling an iPad that had been gently used to test Apps they designed (they always have to upgrade to the latest edition) and the kids decided it would make a great gift for me.

I am now in Apple love.  I can do everything on it except when I need to type a lot... like blog posts, articles, and e-mails.  I have even been watching some You Tube videos on it.  Do you have any that are your favorites?

So that was a wonderful surprise.  But Sunday's was not and it reminded me I'm "losing it" once in awhile.

I made a small cake for our Anniversary and when it came out of the oven, took a tiny bite from the corner to see how it turned out.  Cough!  Ugh!  Blech!  It was more than a little salty and I had not added salt to this recipe.  So I wondered...

I took the sugar canister off the shelf and tasted a little of it.  Sure enough.  It was salt.  It seems when I returned from Michigan, I poured what I thought was leftover sugar in the canister but it was the leftover salt.  What can I say?  It looks the same when you are busy unpacking.

I am SO thankful the mistake showed up in a small and inexpensive dessert just for Hubby and me.  I poured out everything in the canister since a mixture of salt and sugar does no one any good and then proceeded to make another small cake with the right ingredients.  It turned out very good.  And sweet.

Beautiful picture of you and your "Hobbit". Love your hair style--very becoming. Your family is so thoughtful to get you such useful and needed gifts. Blessings, Sharon D.

I have an iPad mini and LOVE it! I do everything on it. I discovered an app called Blogsy, for the blog. It's the easiest way I've found to do the blog, and there are video tutorials to show you how. I think I may have paid for it, but it was worth it.

I have no experience with iPads but the sugar/salt thing? Yeah. :)

Your grand has the cutest expression. I know my grands love my iPad. You can download a Blogger app and it can be used to create posts. I've done a few of mine that way. Also, do you have a microphone on your keyboard? That indicates that you can dictate and your keyboard will type it for you. (Mine does not have that feature.) Awwww...sorry about that cake, it gives salt cake a whole other meaning. Have fun with your iPad!

My son once set out everything for me to make chocolate chip cookies when I got home from work. The cookies did NOT turn out!!! I had put 10X sugar (confectioners) in a glass jar and Ben thought it was flour!!

I have an android phone and a lap top. Working my way up!

You are blessed my friend! Such a thoughtful gift and now you don't always have to wait for hubby to be done on the computer!

I like to watch Rachel Khoo on youtube. I am amazed at the food she cooks in the little Paris kitchen!

Nice gift! You know, I think they make keyboards for those things. Wireless bluetooth....then you wouldn't have to fight the hubs for computer time.

I did have an Iphone for a bit....was not a fan, but probably because the prior phone was an android system. And how people get by with just a smart phone and no computer, I'll never know. Too fiddy for me. If I hadn't gotten a good deal on the phone plan, I would have stuck with my stupid phone.

What a lovely gift! I've never substituted salt for sugar but I have totally forgotten to add the sugar. My daughter likes to remind me of the time I did this with cookies and tried sprinkling the tops with sugar. It's not the same :)

Oh I'm obsessed with YouTube! I'm thinking of making YT videos I love them so much!

I like Do it on a Dime. She's fun and has great organizing ideas on a dime (of course).
