My World this Week

At least one item I planted last week is not in pouring rain.  ;)
In the past few days we have had to turn the air conditioning on due to heat and humidity (temps at 89 on one day) and then the furnace had to be turned on today.  It has become so very wet and cold.

I had hoped to get a photo of the dogwood tree in full bloom but it does not look like that will happen with the wind and rain coming against it together.  Our weatherman posted on his blog that this dreadful March-like weather has a name... Dogwood Winter!  Which is also why there are absolutely no garden related photos, unless one wanted to gaze at mud.  ;)

Here is what my world looked like this week through the lens of a camera.

Reading
I just started The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry.   I will let you know how I like it when I finish.  Otherwise, you can find out more... here.*

Watching
The NCIS episode Tuesday evening which paid tribute to Gibb's father and the actor Ralph Waite who played him.  Ralph Waite (most well known as the father on The Walton's) passed away suddenly earlier this year.  Yeah, I cried.

Baking
I love this vintage wooden recipe box!
I decided to make our favorite Dutch Apple Pie for Mother's Day dinner.  Recipe... here.

Tea Time in the Study

Wise Words

Her Fluffiness
I think I hear D.O.G.S.!
SUPER KITTY!
This is MY property, do you hear... MY grass!

I heard the last few seconds of that program and wondered what it was all about. Thank you for clearing that up. I'm sure that they honored the actor well if you wept.

Hope that somehow the seeds make it okay even with the mud and wet. Do you think it'll mean replanting? Oh dear. This has been such a winter and such a spring. Our furnace has been on quite a bit this morning.

I was able to watch that episode of NCIS on my computer last night and yes, I cried, too.
It's still air conditioning weather in Jacksonville, N.C. and now I'm headed to Florida which is in the high 80's and humid, too. I guess I'm getting my taste of the South this Spring!
Enjoy your reading and tea.

Hi Brenda;
Our weather must be very similar to yours, air and furnace, one day both were on the same day! Figure that one out!
Your pie looks delicious but with your diabetes, how do you eat a piece? I just found out I have diabetes 2, would love to know any secrets of eating some desserts. And poor Super Kitty, not the dog word! Good heavens, how insulting for her!!
Love and Hugs, Nana

Here in my Missouri corner, the weather is doing exactly the same. Just heard of a frost warning for tonight. Unbelievable! I am not ready for scorching heat, but I am done with coat and long underwear weather!

Thank you, again, for a glimpse into your world. you've given many good book recommends, recipes, and of course the now famous "Queen Victoria" pictures. my dogs get the same look when they see chipmunks run across the walkway....oh, we had snow yesterday :-(. God's Blessings!

We are getting hammered with rain today! It's crazy! I am hoping to get some plants in the ground on Saturday. I think I am glad that my peonies are not blooming yet.

I am several seasons behind on NCIS but I do like that show. I was sad when Ralph Waite died. He said that playing John Walton made him a better man, as he learned from his character.

Have a great weekend!
