Intense morning sunshine in the Study is welcome after a long Winter. |
Saturday morning Hubby is helping to prepare the soil for the other three raised beds (adding additional topsoil, peat, and manure in bags) and two of them will be planted with cooler weather veggies. One is set aside for the Mid-May plantings.
We were going to expand the garden this year but circumstances changed which made it iffy for awhile if we were even going to plant this year. So thankful to at least be able to plant what we can!
I took a break today to have lunch with my son... fattoush and hummus. Yum! It is always good when my children take me out to eat. Oh, and there was great conversation. We don't get to see each other often so I always appreciate when we do.
So... here is what else is going on in my world through the lens of a camera. :)
Reading
My health food store had the latest issue of Taproot, purchased on Senior Discount Tuesday. A very good thing, indeed.
Watching
Love, love, LOVE this show!
Cooking
Ham from the Easter dinner made its' way into ham and bean soup. Along with Colonial Williamsburg skillet cornbread... yum.
Cutie
Is this a cute grandson or what? His mother posted the photo to Facebook to show me he loved his birthday gifts. I was able to purchase them with Amazon credit thanks to YOU.
Lovely
Her Fluffiness
I could not help snapping this photo when she was stretched out behind me on the sofa. :)

I am a fan of "call the midwife" also! Last Sunday's episode was especially touching, with the Jewish matriarch who was filled with fear after WWII, and could not go outside her house. So often these days I turn to the local PBS station, for programming that isnt glorifying violence or sexuality. One has to watch with a discerning eye, but it sure beats network and cable TV. I love the pic of her fluffiness, as usual. Oh to be able to perch on the back of a sofa...lol.
Hi - brand new follower. I love your blog and will be back. This was a fun post to read. Have a good weekend!
Wonderful week!
I love Call the Midwife too, and we are all sad about what happened to Alec this past week! Sad!
I bought some herbs and we may be plants already started this year for the garden. It's been one of those years.

thanks for sharing...
I love your pictures...
Hi Brenda;
Beautiful sunshine! I love your study, very relaxing indeed. Glad to hear you are ready to start your cold plants. I have decided to replant the flowers on the south side of the house and make that a veggie garden. Have a great week! Love and Hugs, Nana
PS Have never watched mid wives will have to remember to turn it on. Blessings to you and yours. Love your grandson, what a cutie!
One of my favorite things to do is to share a meal with our adult children. The conversation flies onto so many things. I can relate to your lunch.
I used to make hummus for the children with a squeeze of lemon and lots of chopped parsley - so good. There is no restaurant around here that serves hummus so at your mention of this dish I'll have to take it up again.
Diverse herbs, growing a few steps from the kitchen door, are a summer luxury I am thankful for. Don't they brighten up the flavor of every dish?
The picture of your grandson is precious!
Love the pictures!
I haven't been watching Call the Midwife, but have been watching Mr. Selfridge (many years ago I worked in a couple large, fashionable department stores, so I was intrigued) and also Doc Martin is airing on our local PBS channel. I like it so far. Miss Victoria looks very regal in her photo ... has she been to Egypt to see the Sphinx? :O) Blessings to you and yours, Brenda! Bess
Your grandson is adorable! And love the picture of your kitty. Have not seen Call the Midwife, but have heard it's very good. Have a blessed Sunday Brenda!
