Bucks and Bigfoot...

I'm sure we all have conversations with friends and family members which... to the outside world... would be quite peculiar.

I thought I'd share this one that happened recently when my husband called on the cell phone from the van, just a few minutes after leaving home.

Ring, ring, ring...

Me:  Hello?  You just left!

Hubby:  Hey, you will never guess what just ran in front of the van!

Me:  Bigfoot?

Silence... insert chirping of crickets here.

Hubby:  No, an eight point buck!  It came out of the field by the horse ranch, ran across the road, and into the forest.

Me:  Are you sure it wasn't Bigfoot?

Insert more chirping of crickets...

Hubby:  I think I know the difference between Bigfoot and a deer.

Me:  It's a good thing you didn't run into it, that would have damaged the van but good.

Hubby:  Yeah, it was already running but it looked over toward me and probably thought, "I can make that easily!".

Me:  I don't doubt it.  After all, it was a male.

I think at this time he decided he'd better pay attention to the country roads.  Either that or he wasn't getting anywhere in this conversation.

Oh, gosh, this sounds like phone conversations between my husband and me, only last week it was the spring peepers peeping in the nearby pond, though we have had similar deer conversations. ha!

"After all, it was a male." Too funny, Brenda. And we all know exactly what you mean ... got stuck on a highway travelling in a blizzard years ago because my ex was sure we could make it. (Despite my pleas to turn around.) :O) Have a great day, Bess

Funny ... and typical male!

that is funny, but endearing. I think its sweet that he thought of you first to tell you about his encounter. Our long-time husbands still desire the spark of our interest, even when we are less than enthusiastic.

You have made me laugh twice today, Brenda! Once with your funny lemon bar story (I would like to have seen your son-in-law's face!)...and now with this amusing conversation between you and your husband! :D

odd bit of info ..I was surprised a deer had antlers so late and so I looked it up....He was probably a She !!!! the rare female who grows antlers hangs on to them way longer than average...almost as good as a big foot sighting I think!!
