My World this Week

The award for seeing the first robin of the season has returned where it belongs!

Would you believe two years ago today we were breaking heat records for March?  This morning there were snow flurries near us and another Polar Vortex is expected by the end of the weekend.  So I'm not putting away the winter recipes, yet. 

Some may remember our family has had a contest for eons to see who can spy the first robins of the season.  Although it was more fun when we had two kids at home, the competition remains.

This year I happened to be looking out the kitchen window and what would appear but a nice fat robin!  The beany baby robin has returned to me.  Victoria won it last year.  No, really...

So... here is my world through the lens of a camera, taken a little at a time to keep from getting dizzy!

Reading

On the Kindle, I re-read Elizabeth Goudge's The Heart of the Family*, which is the third in the Eliot Family series.  It was what I needed at the time.

I just started reading Francine River's Leota's Garden*, which I had set aside last year.  So many people whose opinion I highly regard have raved about it.

Watching

When I was on the sofa one evening, I watched the most amazing program on Day of Discovery.  It was called The Time to Live is Now and is about the accidental death of a young woman in an avalanche while mountain climbing with her brother.

But I must say... it is about so much more than that.  It is about falling in love with God all over again.  This was one of the most remarkable stories I have ever watched.  It is still available to watch online in the expanded 90 minute story (which I have now watched twice)... here.

It will be one of the best investments of your time you have ever taken. I don't know how long they keep the video up before you have to purchase the DVD.

R&R

I stopped by Panera on my way to the grocery store last Friday, the very first day in awhile that the weather was lovely.  And I still had credit left from a Panera gift card I received at Christmas.  :)

How delightful it was to sip great coffee, nibble on an orange scone, and write in my journal.  Lovely...

Tweaking

I'm changing around the buffet for the first time in awhile.  This is a work in progress but I plan to add a couple more plants.

Someone had once asked me about the red-crystal goblets.  I bought those two at Goodwill but I've seen them multiple times at the antique mall.  I believe they are called Ruby Red Kings Crown or something similar.

Thrifting

This little guy is made of plastic and came home with me from Goodwill for 49 cents.  My husband rolled his eyes when he saw it but I thought it quite cute.

He was happy when I hung it over the desk in my study so he didn't have to look at it. ;)

Hot Beverages

I was gifted a box of my favorite apple cider K-cups.  Yum... just in time for when I was feeling really crummy.

I don't think you have seen this cup before.  They are the cups and saucers that match my Everyday Lenox set of dishes that were my first really good dishes (except my wedding china).  I bought eight places settings (my dining table can seat eight) during a more prosperous time in the mid-90s.

There was a whole lot of hospitality shown when these were on the table.
