Susan Branch and cookbook love...

I was asked if I follow Susan Branch's blog.  As they say a state or two north of us... you betcha!

Her blog has a way of always making me happy.  Do you read it?   Click... here.  Victoria loves the bird chirping background.  ;)

As far as her latest book, some will remember my review.  Go ahead, pop on over here and scroll down.  See who left the last comment.  That made me smile, too.  What a sweetheart she is.

This review was also featured on Susan's Facebook status, which is updated by her California staff.  I still keep A Fine Romance close enough to peruse it on dark winter days.  It is quite magical (Narnia magic, you know).

As for some of the cookbooks, they are often available used on Amazon at very reasonable prices.  They tend to go on publisher's overstock sales... so if you keep the title on your Wish List and check back it is fairly easy to follow the prices.   I was fortunate to get some of the cookbooks for only a dollar each at library sales through the years, too.

Like many of you, I read cookbooks as some do novels.  Especially those with pictures since I seem to have regressed to my Kindergarten preferences.

On the other hand, I just sent Stephanie my copy of The Elliott Homestead: From Scratch: Traditional, Whole-Foods Dishes for Easy, Everyday Meals.  The price had skyrocketed so I guess waiting to purchase a book can work both ways.

I found out about Susan Branch from your blog when you first posted about A Fine Romance. Since I love England, I bought the book and really enjoyed it! I read Susan's blog now and had considered buying some of her cookbooks. Since you just brought them up again, I skipped over to Amazon and found a couple of them at quite a good price. What fun!

Susan is a real joy! I love the warm and cozy feeling of her art and the generosity of the way she shares it on her blog....I think I have all her cookbooks, though I didn't buy them when they first came out. I've often had her calendars. I love what I call "chatty cookbooks", ones that share the author's personality and life as well as recipes. And I completely agree with you about A Fine Romance. I have it out because just picking it up and rereading a page makes me smile.

I love Susan Branch and adore her book "A Fine Romance". Santa brought it for Christmas and I read it in 2 days. :-) Since I have never been to England, this is the next best thing! Her cookbooks are great, too.

My book sits propped waiting for those moments when it is so delicious to dip in...it really is one of those kinds of books. Sometimes, I just look at the pictures as if I were a child with a storybook. Delightful. I can't read cookbooks the way that you do because I find them too tempting. (I am presuming here that you don't make a beeline for the kitchen after reading a cookbook.)

I LOVE her blog and her book and she is so delightful with her cats, and that is awesome that she wrote on your blog post. Congratulations!

Just visited her blog two days ago thanks to your link! I love it. Her movie list is lovely. So many old favorites and so many I have yet to see. We (my youngest daughter and I) are excited to start our list on Netflix using many of her faves and revive our Friday Family Movie Nights watching old movies together! We have finished our favorite new shows and can't wait to get back to the oldies but goodies!

Oh and I can't wait for our copy of A Fine Romance (ordered through your widget)!

Thanks ever so for sharing the beauty and joys in your life!

In Grace,
Michelle
