Happy New Year!

I do hope your Christmas season was a good one.  Mine was somewhat quiet as it has been for years now.  But it ended up to be a good one.

My big Christmas gift was quite the surprise as our kids have gone together to rent a house next summer for all of us to vacation together on Lake Michigan for about a week.  We will be staying near the "Big Lake" in South Haven and making little jaunts now and then to our favorite places like Saugatuck and Holland.

I think this will be the first time our grandchildren will see the area where their mom spent her childhood years.  July seems so far away but judging how 2013 flew by, it will be here soon.

Which... with frigid cold temperatures and snow on the way... July sounds kind of good right now.

I'm spending the remainder of today and perhaps tomorrow pondering life and God and the next year.  Just little things, you know.  ;)

Image:  I have had this Mary Englebreit print in various rooms in our home, currently in the study.

Pondering here today, too...
What a wonderful gift! South Haven is a delightful place--as you know. We've returned there a few times after first being gifted with a getaway at a Bed & Breakfast when we directed a camp near Kalamazoo....

Another time, I spent time with a friend who had rented a small cottage kind of along the channel.

Happy New Year!

What a wonderful gift this is! I immediately thought that your children coming up with a "gift of all of you being together" speaks volumes about your parenting and the great kids that you raised. Well done!

It is so good to see you back! What a delight!!!! To be all together in a favorite place on vacation!!! Wow!! I wanted also to let you know I just noticed Granny Miller has posted she is leaving her blogging. The site of her's listed on your blog roll will be gone in a couple days {posted Dec 30} and she will have all here old posts now on a word press site she lists. You might want to change her address very soon therefore on your blog roll. I know you too will be sad to see her stop blogging but understand. I pray she will be ok as she mentions some health concerns. I would have written this to your e-mail but I was not certain you would see it before it was too late. Sarah

Blessings for the New Year! So happy you are back! I have always loved that quote from your ME picture. We had a quite Christmas too, which was actually kinda' nice. What a truly Wonderful gift your kids have given you! Something to really look forward to!
I just finished reading "Winter Solstice" and thoroughly enjoyed it! I think it's one of her best books, next to "Shell Seekers". Thanks so much for the recommendation! Last year I read Miss Read's "Christmas in Fairacre" thanks to your recommendation, as well, and then proceeded to read all the other books in both her series! Enjoyed them all So Much! Now, I'm about to begin " A Million Little Ways" by Emily P. Freeman, again, thanks to you! (A Christmas present to myself!) I also gave my daughter a copy and she totally thrilled. (It was actually on her wish list) See how you inspire us all?
Hugs and Blessings,
