Getting back in the saddle so to speak

Pinterest pic...
After getting out of the habit of blogging regularly, I must kick start my thinking again from such ponderings as looking out my window wishing for spring to sitting down and writing while the cat (that being Hubby in this case) is away so I can use his computer.  ;)

A big thank you to Sarah who let me know Granny Miller is stopping her blog and to quickly switch over to her archives blog address.  That will remain in the links on my sidebar even though I don't keep most blogs there that are not being updated at least once in awhile.  I know many of us appreciate her wisdom.

I think (someone may be able to tell me for sure in the comments) that this was the second "Granny Miller" who took over when the first one also retired from blogging.  I may be thinking of another blog as my mind is frozen.  We awoke to a temperature of -8 this morning... and it is getting colder as the weekend progresses!

[NOTE:  Thank you to Debbie who let me know this link now leads to a p*rn site.  It worked fine yesterday so obviously it has been hacked.  I will try to fix it if possible later but in the meantime I removed the link]

I can understand as I go in phases of loving to blog and then staring at a blank screen thinking I don't want to talk to anyone, even through Blogger.  Which is why I need those mind clearing breaks once in awhile.  The freedom of no writing feels good for about a week, then I think about something I want to share but I am on a blog break, and by the time it is over I often can hardly wait to get back.

Over the past week, I have been pondering my word for the new year.  One kept floating to the top, a word I've actually been pondering for awhile now.  That word is... Heritage.  I curled up in the overstuffed chair in my study with a steno notebook and a purple pen and made two pages of ideas having to do with the word Heritage.  Yes... I think that was the right decision!  There will be much more written in the days and weeks to come.  :)

Now, a last minute thank you and a link that you must follow quickly if you have a Kindle or Nook.  Thank you again to everyone who enters their Amazon shopping through the widget here.  It is truly a blessing.  I used most for Christmas and birthday gifts recently but managed a book for me, too.  I will share it next week.  I plan to use the credit received in January to get some really good flashlights we need!  Sometimes one must be practical.

Beth Moore's publisher is offering many of her books free for the Kindle and Nook.  I just found out from a friend that more than the original four are now free for the Kindle!  Here are the links and as always, check to see if they are still free.

*Beth Moore's Kindle books... here.  The free books were listed first when I was last on the page.
*Beth Moore's Nook books... here.  You have to search a bit to find the free books here.

There are also some Beth Moore books for the Kindle at only 99 cents each.  Have fun!  I stocked up on some free reads and one 99 cent book from one of my favorite Bible teachers.

*These are the publisher's links and not my Associate's link.

Welcome back Brenda :0) I know what you mean about wanting to write. I have tried to go for about a week myself, and then, His Spirit prompts me to share again.

Have a wonderful day!

I can't imagine -8 cold. I have been thanking God for letting me be born in East Texas and not Michigan, Wisconsin or some other COLD place. Although it was 31 this morning--it won't stay that all day and I can deal with that as long as I don't have to stay out in it very long. Aside from my rambling, I am glad to have you back--have missed you. Blessings, Sharon D.

Brenda, I'm SO happy to see you're back! I love your blog! It's SO cozy! Heritage is such a good word! I turned 61 yesterday and I have some health goals for 2014 (lose weight - I did lose on WW in 2013, but gained some back) and exercise as I can. I have fibro and a bad ankle, so I'm a bit limited that way. I know you are too . I'm HAPPY to report that if you go to the Top 100 Free Kindle Books, you'll see that the Top 10 or the Top 100 are ALL Beth Moore books! So now there are 10 FREE ones! Isn't that great for us Kindle readers??

Happy New year Brenda! In your Deepening the Pantry links you have a link for "Granny Miller Blog". It leads to some spa site. The one I have to GM is: http://www.granny-miller.com/. Just says there that she's taking a break and will see you back in 2014. Hope this helps

I've downloaded quite a few of Beth Moore's books in recent days, someone did say that even more of her books will be given away free for Kindle too.

You have a lovely blog. :)

I don't mean to hijack this post but wanted to add some information as I see someone was trying to go to I take it the older granny miller site and had problems. I mentioned in another comment a day or so ago[?} that I went on your link to Granny Miller on Dec 30. She had been not blogging through the holidays anyway. But said she would come back afterwards. She wrote Dec 30th she was stopping blogging but would have a new site with everything on it. She gave a link. It was grannymillerblog.wordpress.com. She would only leave the old one up a few days she said. The new one worked as I have been there. It had everything on it from her blog 2006 to November 25. 13. Today when I went it says this blog was taken down. So now the old one and the newer one are gone. I have no idea what happened to this new blog. I sure hope someone finds her somewhere. As she did say she would not be adding to this new blog but would keep it up at wordpress. If, If she ever wanted to add to or blog again we could find her there. So if anyone ever finds her somewhere please let all of us know. !! :-) I sure use the information she had there and welcomed through the years anything she had. I cannot imagine she would take this new blog down as she said she would not + it must have taken her a while to get everything transferred there. I will let you know if I ever find anything. I don't know if anyone will see this here though. :( ...sorry Brenda...I too am glad to see YOU back too!! :-) Sarah

Sarah - I still find that the website link I have: http://www.granny-miller.com/ works well. I'm not sure if it has been updated, but it seems to have since when I looked the other day it said she was taking a break and now it's been updated. Hope this helps.
